# Balkan Rage Balkan Rage is a TikTok brain rot slang trend that went viral in September 2024, growing out of earlier "Balkan female rage" videos by Eastern European women on the app. By late 2024, ironic edits were stacking the phrase against other buzzwords like "noradrenaline" and "hawk tuah" over phonk tracks. ## Origin Balkan Rage traces back to Eastern European women making videos about their anger, which they called "Balkan female rage." TikToker @gabrielamaksimovaa posted an early example on December 27th, 2022, which drew over 400,000 plays in two years[1]. The format went viral again in June 2024, when @karleusa published a compilation of Balkan female rage clips on June 8th that reached nearly 2 million plays[2]. Ironic flipping of the term came later. On August 27th, 2024, TikToker @low_quality_stan91 posted a Jonkler edit captioned "balkan rage + zimbawean flicker munting + equatorial guinea sandpaper edging," the earliest known meme pairing of the phrase with other brain rot buzzwords[3]. Know Your Meme documented this post as the first ironic edit of its kind[4]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @low_quality_stan91 (earliest known ironic edit) - **Date:** 2024 ## Overview On TikTok, Balkan Rage edits stack the term alongside other ironic slang in bracketed "power-ups," set to phonk soundtracks and framed as cartoonishly overwhelming aura[1]. Younger users and teenagers drove the gag, with Urban Dictionary describing the buzzword as something kids use "to get 1000+ aura"[9]. Posts range from text-only Jonkler bait to compilation edits that make the phrase the final boss of brain rot[3]. ## How to Use A typical Balkan Rage post stacks the phrase with other ironic TikTok slang in a plus-sign chain (e.g., "balkan rage + noradrenaline + hawk tuah"), often over a phonk track, powerscaling the terms against each other like fighting game stats[7]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Balkan Rage?
