# Bismarck Is The Capital of North Dakota

Bismarck Is The Capital of North Dakota is an exploitable template drawn from a four-panel sequence in Powerpuff Girls #3, where Blossom recites state trivia before telling Buttercup 'Fuck you' at Applebee's. Tumblr edits of the comic started circulating in September 2016, and by 2018 iFunny users were adapting the panels for franchises like RWBY and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

## Origin
The source panels come from Powerpuff Girls #3, a portion of which CBR excerpted on November 26, 2013[1]. The viral version is a dialogue edit laid over those panels, since the original comic has Blossom saying something else entirely[3].

On September 22, 2016, Tumblr user particlemilk posted the edited version with the Bismarck line and gained over 40,000 notes[3]. The post was tagged 'welcome to my old jokes,' and a later r/ComedyCemetery thread claimed to have found an earlier copy of the comic on an old MySpace page, so the true first posting is unconfirmed[2].

## Overview
Edits of Bismarck Is The Capital of North Dakota usually keep the four-panel layout and the Applebee's beat, but replace Blossom's trivia with a different pedantic opinion or hot take, usually one that bothers the character playing Buttercup[1]. Common versions redraw the three characters as mascots from another series, so the deadpan 'Fuck you' lands on a Mario sprite or a JoJo stand user instead of a Powerpuff[3].

The humor runs on the whiplash between Blossom's calm recital, Buttercup's visible frustration, Bubbles' non sequitur about Applebee's, and the cheerful aggression of the closing panel. The joke works regardless of which fact Blossom cites, which is why the template outlived its original dialogue and traveled to iFunny, Twitter and Reddit over the next several years[2].

## How to Use
Posters typically keep the four-panel structure intact: panel one shows Blossom delivering a trivia fact or opinion, panel two cuts to Buttercup groaning about it, panel three shows Bubbles asking about Applebee's, and the fourth panel has Blossom agreeing with Bubbles before telling Buttercup 'Fuck you.' Common edits replace the dialogue, the characters, or both, and the fact in panel one is usually something the artist wants to roast as boring or pedantic.
