# Blobby N Friends "I'll Get That Asshole" Comic Blobby N Friends "I'll Get That Asshole" Comic is a June 2019 webcomic strip where a blobfish sidekick threatens a catcaller with a knife, which Twitter users dragged over a year later for making the supposed heroes look like the aggressors. By September 2020, parody redraws were circulating in which the blobfish gets stabbed or teams up with another reviled webcomic character. ## Origin Webcomic artist Blobby N Friends posted the strip to Tumblr on June 4, 2019, under the caption "well have none of that thankyouverymuch," where it collected over 2,600 notes[1]. The same comic went up on the artist's Twitter account that day and gained more than 750 retweets and 3,100 likes in its initial run[2]. At the time of posting, the strip attracted little criticism and sat quietly in the webcomic's back catalog for over a year before being rediscovered by hostile readers in 2020[7]. - **Platform:** Tumblr / Twitter (viral backlash) - **Creator:** Blobby N Friends (webcomic) - **Date:** 2019 ## Overview In the original three-panel strip, a woman walks down the street carrying Blobby the blobfish when a smirking man leans in and asks, "Hey beautiful, what's your number?" The woman freezes with an uncomfortable look while Blobby produces a knife and declares, "I'll get that asshole"[1]. The comic reads as a straightforward power-fantasy response to street harassment, with the blobfish acting as a loyal pocket enforcer. The later backlash reframed the same panels as unintentionally villainous: critics argued that answering a verbal catcall with a drawn blade turned the comic's own protagonists into the dangerous party on the sidewalk[4]. Know Your Meme grouped the reaction with the "New Guy" style of criticism, where a cartoonist's attempt at a sympathetic hero reads online as the opposite[7]. Comparisons to Tom Preston's "fedora bear" strip, in which a bear beats a photographer with a bat, became the shorthand reference during the pile-on[3]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Blobby N Friends "I'll Get That Asshole" Comic?
