# Catnap (Poppy Playtime) Catnap is the purple-furred feline antagonist from the horror game Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3, released on Steam on January 30, 2024. After MOB Games teased the character in a July 2023 trailer on YouTube, fan artists on DeviantArt and parody animators on YouTube started posting Catnap content months before the chapter arrived. By early 2024, fan-made YouTube origin-story animations hit tens of millions of views. ## Origin MOB Games uploaded the first gameplay trailer for Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 to YouTube on July 26, 2023, showing Catnap's silhouette approaching the camera through fog and releasing gas from its mouth[1]. By early 2024, that teaser earned around 10 million views[3]. Catnap's design, a plush purple cat with heavy spinal plates, drew attention from the fan art community well before any Chapter 3 gameplay was publicly playable. MOB Games developed Chapter 3 and designed Catnap; the earliest fan-made depictions came from independent artists. DeviantArt user @AlexychArt posted one of the earliest fan drawings of the character on November 12, 2023[2], months before the chapter went live on Steam on January 30, 2024[3]. - **Platform:** YouTube (teaser trailer) / DeviantArt and YouTube (viral fan content) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview In Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3, Catnap first appears as a plush stuffed cat with purple fur and black eyes, then shifts into a towering monster with ridges and plates running along his back[3]. Fan creators lean into that contrast, with artwork and animations alternating between cutesy sleepy-kitten depictions and horror imagery borrowed from the game's gas-breathing boss sequences[1]. Fan output often sits alongside the earlier Poppy Playtime villains Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs, with crossover fan art, origin-story animations, and parody boss-fight videos making up the bulk of Catnap content online[3]. Many fan clips borrow the slow-silhouette approach from the MOB Games teaser, where the character stalks the camera through fog[1]. ## How to Use Typical Catnap posts fall into a few shapes. Fan artists often draw the character in his plush stuffed-cat state alongside the horror boss form, with the gas-breathing monster looming behind the sleepy kitten version. Animation creators commonly post short origin stories or parody boss-fight scenes set to music, often borrowing the slow-silhouette shot from the original MOB Games teaser[1]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Catnap (Poppy Playtime)?
