# Charli D'Amelio's "I Can't Do This Anymore" During an October 2023 podcast with Jay Shetty, TikTok star Charli D'Amelio described hitting 100 million followers as her lowest mental state and said she physically could not keep going. A year later in November 2024, a green-screen CapCut template of the clip exploded on TikTok, with teachers, nurses and service workers using it to joke about dreading another shift. ## Origin On October 30th, 2023, mental-health content creator Jay Shetty uploaded a long interview with Charli D'Amelio to YouTube. Around the one-hour-and-22-minute mark, D'Amelio recounts the moment she passed 100 million TikTok followers and says, "I was at the lowest mental state possible and I looked so happy online... I physically cannot do this"[1]. Shetty's team cut the quote into a short vertical clip and reposted it to his TikTok account the same day, where it drew more than 3.7 million views over the following year[5]. The audio made small rounds in January and February 2024, but the format did not take off until Chief Green Screens re-cut the moment as a green-screen CapCut template and posted it to TikTok on November 10th, 2024[2]. That second upload is the version virtually every later entry in the trend uses. - **Platform:** YouTube (Jay Shetty podcast) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Charli D'Amelio (source clip); Chief Green Screens (viral green-screen template) - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview The format takes a 10-second slice from a Jay Shetty podcast episode in which Charli D'Amelio, visibly emotional, says, "I physically cannot do this"[1]. Posters pair the clip with on-screen text that casts themselves and a coworker friend as the two defeated people in the frame, usually describing the loop of finishing a brutal shift and knowing they are scheduled again tomorrow[2]. Most entries follow a tight pattern set by the November 2024 green-screen version uploaded by Chief Green Screens[3]. The joke works because D'Amelio is talking about a genuine mental-health low after hitting 100 million followers, and users yank that gravity sideways to describe something as mundane as a nursing shift or a middle-school classroom[4]. The emotional mismatch, a teen influencer in tears over internet fame standing in for an overworked ER nurse, is the whole punchline. ## How It Spread The template moved fastest through burnout-coded professions. On November 11th, 2024, TikTok account @twinklusa overlaid the green-screen clip with the caption, "my teacher bestie and I venting after school everyday, knowing we'll be right back here tomorrow," collecting more than 300,000 plays and 25,000 likes in the first two weeks[3]. One day later, @stace_n_yo_face swapped teaching for nursing, writing, "Me and my nurse bestie at the beginning, middle and end of every shift"[4]. By November 15th, 2024, @shiftrxwastaken had taken the format to pharmacy work with the caption, "Me and my work bestie after every shift (we're both scheduled for tomorrow)," clearing 200,000 plays and 20,000 likes within a week[6]. The template kept cycling through retail, hospitality and new-grad nurse accounts through the rest of November, with the Chief Green Screens upload acting as the shared sound and visual base[5]. The trend's reach stayed concentrated on TikTok rather than crossing to Twitter or Reddit in any measurable way, which fits the CapCut-template pipeline: the format depends on the green screen file, so remixes stayed inside TikTok's editing stack[2]. ## How to Use To make one, grab the Chief Green Screens template[2] or a similar green-screened cut of the clip, then write on-screen text framing yourself and a work friend as the two people falling apart in the frame. Common conventions include naming your profession ("my teacher bestie and I," "me and my nurse bestie") and ending with a line about being scheduled right back tomorrow[3][4]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Charli D'Amelio's "I Can't Do This Anymore"?
