# Clown to Clown Communication Clown to Clown Communication is a reaction image of two clowns facing each other, captioned with the title phrase to mock people acting foolishly together. The earliest known meme version appeared on iFunny in August 2019 and traveled across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook over the next two years. By August 2022, Tumblr artists reworked the format into "autism to autism communication" using the autism creature mascot. ## Origin The underlying picture is a 3D graphic made to illustrate extrasensory perception, posted to the Braintenance Blogspot on September 22nd, 2012[1]. Tumblr user realfootage reposted it on April 16th, 2017, where it collected over 4,900 notes[2]. Who first swapped the ESP figures for clowns and added the caption is unconfirmed. The earliest known clown version was posted by iFunny user UNITEDSTATESNAVY_2018 on August 23rd, 2019, with the setup "when the Chief's mess gets together"[3]. Know Your Meme flagged this iFunny post as the first documented sighting of the format[4]. - **Platform:** iFunny (earliest known meme), based on a 2012 Braintenance Blogspot ESP graphic - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2019 ## Overview Clown to Clown Communication, also called Clown to Clown Conversation, pairs a 3D render of two clowns gazing at each other with a caption that reads "clown to clown communication, clown to clown conversation"[3]. People drop the image under screenshots, replies or video clips where two users strike them as clowns talking past reality, so it works as a one-image insult aimed at both participants at once[4]. Redraws and remixes keep the two-clowns composition but swap the figures or the caption to target different groups. A Twitter redraw by @mimiadraws in June 2020 reimagines the clowns in a cleaner illustration style[6], while later edits replace the clowns with the autism creature or label them with real people, keeping the mirrored-stare structure as the joke's engine[9][11]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Clown to Clown Communication?
