# Correct Gender And Sexuality Lions Correct Gender And Sexuality Lions, also known as Correct Sex And Sexuality Lions, is a 2017 DeviantArt infographic by Cynderthedragon5768 that uses a blue male lion and pink lioness to defend a strict gender binary. The image drew backlash from LGBTQ+ and furry users on Twitter in May 2018, who turned it into Photoshop edits mocking its biology and politics. By December 2023, X user @crayzeekitten5 was still collecting pro-queer remixes of the lions in viral threads. ## Origin Cynderthedragon5768 uploaded Correct Gender and Sexuality Lions to DeviantArt on November 7, 2017, with a matching post the same day on Tumblr under the username feebleturtleduck-artz[1][2]. The artist said the chart was a direct answer to the Gender Unicorn, a classroom tool that introduces readers to gender identity, expression, sex assigned at birth and attraction[1]. The DeviantArt listing collected over 85,000 views and 360 favorites during its eight-year run, while the Tumblr version sat at more than 600 notes[6]. A week after the backlash hit Twitter, Cynderthedragon5768 posted a follow-up on DeviantArt on May 14, 2018, titled "Hey you, yea you, read this," saying they drew lions because they could not draw people and that the chart was aimed at "trans-trenders" and otherkin rather than actual transgender people[7]. The follow-up was later deleted but survives in a Wayback Machine capture[7]. - **Platform:** DeviantArt / Tumblr (origin), Twitter / X (viral spread) - **Creator:** Cynderthedragon5768 - **Date:** 2017 ## Overview The original graphic lays out two cartoon lions side by side with text boxes assigning each animal a gender and matching attraction, loosely copying the layout of the educational Gender Unicorn poster[1]. The male lion is drawn blue and labeled straight male; the lioness is pink and labeled straight female, with no third option between them[6]. Cynderthedragon5768 described the chart as a reaction against people they viewed as faking non-binary or otherkin identities[7]. Internet remixers took the lion template and refilled every caption. Common edits label the characters as trans, bi, pan or asexual, redraw the pair in pride-flag colors, or rewrite the dialogue so the lion comes out to the lioness[5]. Lion biology also powered the dunks, since real lionesses sometimes grow manes and carry higher testosterone than males, which turned the artist's chosen animal into an argument against her own thesis[4]. ## How to Use Edits typically keep the two-lion layout and overwrite the captions with a new identity read, often rewriting the lioness box to assert she is trans, lesbian, bi or nonbinary. People commonly recolor the fur in pride-flag palettes, add a third lion to the pair, or paste the original art next to a lion biology correction about manes and testosterone[4][5]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Correct Gender And Sexuality Lions?
