# Daredevil Dog Daredevil Dog is a 2016 viral video of Bodhi, a dog in a red Daredevil mask sitting stone still as the camera circles him on a couch. Bodhi died shortly after the clip went viral that summer, but the footage found a second life on TikTok in October 2021 when creators set it to Evanescence's 'Bring Me To Life' and used it to mock cringey vigilante talk. ## Origin The earliest known upload of the Daredevil Dog video appeared on YouTube on July 26, 2016, where Bodhi sits motionless on a couch in a red Daredevil mask[2]. One day later, UNILAD posted an announcement of Bodhi's death on Facebook, a post that gained over 66,800 shares in the five years that followed[1]. Bodhi belonged to Instagram user Rondell Holmes, who first uploaded the clip to an older Instagram account that was later deleted. On December 2, 2016, Holmes reposted the video to his new Instagram page with a different song and a caption explaining that Bodhi had died several months earlier and that the clip had been stolen and reshared without credit[3]. - **Platform:** YouTube / Instagram (viral spread on TikTok) - **Creator:** Rondell Holmes - **Date:** 2016 ## Overview In the TikTok format, the clip plays as the punchline to a bragging or vigilante-style statement. Someone on screen claims they would never run from an attacker or lectures a class about their own toughness, then the footage cuts to Bodhi staring silently from under the Daredevil mask while Evanescence swells in the background[6]. The dog's grim expression reads as judgment, implying the speaker is not nearly as tough as they claim[8]. Daredevil Dog edits typically run under 30 seconds and lean on on-screen text to set up the quote being reacted to. The source clip is a slow pan around Bodhi, who sits motionless with the mask slightly askew, filmed by owner Rondell Holmes in 2016[2]. The 2003 Daredevil film song gives the reaction an unexpectedly emo weight, which is part of why the template caught on as a cringe response[4]. ## How to Use Daredevil Dog typically works as the reaction half of a two-part TikTok. Creators often start with a screenshot, a quote, or a short clip of someone making a vigilante-style threat or an exaggerated claim, then cut to Bodhi sitting silent in the mask while 'Bring Me To Life' plays[6]. The humor rests on the dog's unimpressed stillness, suggesting the speaker is all talk[8]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Daredevil Dog?
