# Deriod (Slang) Deriod, also spelled Dihriod, is a TikTok slang term from spring 2025 that smashes together "dick" and "period" to joke that men have monthly cycles too. The word broke out of a single explainer video and attached itself to the Sassy Man Apocalypse trend, where creators used it as a punctuating catchphrase over clips of rapper Saucy Santana[1]. ## Origin The term began on March 27th, 2025, when TikTok user @abdoulupnext uploaded an explainer-style video titled "Dihriod," delivering a mock-serious lecture that guys also get periods at certain points in the month[4]. That clip, set to the "Nothing Can Be Explained" audio by Anime de Japan, pulled roughly 1.4 million plays and about 169,000 likes over the following two months[1]. @abdoulupnext is credited as the originator of the gag, while the shorter spelling "deriod" and the "and that's on deriod" tag emerged later as other creators ran with the idea in a different trend format[1]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @abdoulupnext - **Date:** 2025 ## Overview Deriod works on two layers at once. On the surface it is a portmanteau of "dick" and "period" built around the bit that men experience their own version of a menstrual cycle, and underneath it functions like the Black vernacular interjection "period," tacked onto a sentence to punctuate a strong take[1]. A typical post ends with "and that's on deriod" the same way an earlier TikTok might have ended with "periodt." Most viral uses pair the word with the Sassy Man Apocalypse trend, where creators edit struttier, more theatrical clips of men, often rapper Saucy Santana, as if cataloguing an incoming wave of exaggerated masculine attitude[2]. The joke lands when deriod sits as a caption or overlay text on top of those clips, treating it as the official vocabulary of the bit[3]. Spellings drift between Deriod, Dihriod and the longer tag And That's On Deriod depending on which creator picked it up[1]. ## How to Use To use deriod, a creator typically ends a bold statement or a Sassy Man Apocalypse edit with "and that's on deriod," often as on-screen text over a Saucy Santana clip or a strutting male subject[2]. A common convention is to pile it alongside other invented slang terms in the same overlay, treating deriod as one entry in a bigger glossary of the trend[3]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Deriod (Slang)?
