# Diary of a Wimpy Kid "Total Eclipse of the Heart" A clip from the 2010 film Diary of a Wimpy Kid shows classmates auditioning for The Wizard of Oz by botching Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' before Greg Heffley nails it. TikTok editor @_swiftyggeditor_ reposted the audition in April 2023, and by October 2023 creators were object-labeling each off-key kid as a bad option and Greg as the correct pick. ## Origin The source footage comes from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the 2010 Thor Freudenthal film in which middle schoolers audition for a school production of The Wizard of Oz. Most of the kids miss the melody badly, and Greg's clean final line, 'and I need you more than ever,' is used as the comedic payoff[1]. The clip's TikTok life began on April 29, 2023, when editor @_swiftyggeditor_ uploaded the audition sequence on its own, where it collected more than 11 million views over the next six months[1]. The reupload supplied the raw template, but the labeling convention did not appear until the following October[1]. - **Platform:** Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010 film) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown (earliest viral repost by TikTok user @_swiftyggeditor_) - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview Diary of a Wimpy Kid "Total Eclipse of the Heart", also called the Turn Around Meme or the And I Need You More than Ever Meme, is an object-labeling format built on a 90 second audition montage from the 2010 film adaptation of Jeff Kinney's book series[1]. In the scene, roughly four classmates take turns butchering Bonnie Tyler's power ballad before Greg Heffley delivers a surprisingly clean take, and TikTok editors use that running order as a ranking device[1]. A typical post applies CapCut text overlays to each singer. The flat, strained kids get tagged as weak or unwanted members of a category, Greg gets labeled as the correct answer, and the punchline arrives when his overlay reveals the creator's preferred fandom pick, sports team, dating preference or video game character[2][3]. The off-pitch delivery is the whole point: the worse each kid sings, the more cutting the label on their head is supposed to read. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Diary of a Wimpy Kid "Total Eclipse of the Heart"?
