# DJ Khaled "GOD DID"

DJ Khaled's catchphrase "They didn't believe in us, God did" started as an Instagram caption in March 2022 and snowballed into a running bit across his feed. By May 2023, TikTok edits paired the audio with a viral clip of a man twerking underwater, falsely attributed to Khaled, pushing single posts past 2 million plays.

## Origin
On March 3rd, 2022, DJ Khaled posted a photo to Instagram of himself smoking a cigar, with the caption "They didn't believe in us GOD DID !"[1]. The following day, he uploaded a video showing off his XXL Award using the same line, and on March 6th, 2022, he posted a now widely-shared Instagram clip of himself holding two cheeseburgers and repeating the phrase[2].

The cheeseburger video drew around 276,800 likes within a year and set the visual template that later edits would borrow[2]. YouTuber Only Media Things reposted the clip as a Short on March 7th, 2022, giving it reach beyond Instagram[5]. DJ Khaled made the phrase official on July 6th, 2022, when he announced on Instagram that his thirteenth studio album would be titled "GOD DID"[6].

## Overview
DJ Khaled "GOD DID," also known as "They Didn't Believe In Us, God Did," is a self-affirming motivational line DJ Khaled started dropping in his Instagram posts in early 2022[1]. Delivered with a sharp head cock on the words "God did," the clips read as inspirational one-liners but got screenshotted and remixed as absurdist flex captions online[2].

In text form, fans typically wrote it in all caps, often with the Speaking Head emoji like GOD DID 🗣️🗣️[2]. The video edits leaned into fancam territory: short cuts of Khaled with a cigar or a cheeseburger, synced to triumphant music, and sometimes spliced with an unrelated clip of a man twerking underwater that got misattributed to him[3]. The joke works as both a sincere gratitude post and a sarcastic brag, which is why the audio spread fast through TikTok edits of personal wins, sports highlights and random daily victories[4].

## How to Use
A typical GOD DID post pairs a short clip of Khaled saying the line with a caption describing an unlikely win: a passed exam, a surprise paycheck, a sports upset. Common convention is to write the phrase in all caps with the 🗣️ emoji in replies or captions[3]. Fancam-style TikToks often cut Khaled's line into a beat drop and append the unrelated underwater twerking clip for comedic effect[4].
