# Dole Dippers In July 2015, animation studio Luma produced a Dole commercial starring a bowtied penguin butler delivering frozen banana snacks to two sunbathing primates by a pool. iFunny and YouTube remixers hijacked the clip through 2016 and 2017, and by January 2019 the still frame of the penguin became a 'Your X, Retard' snowclone on Reddit. ## Origin Luma, the Los Angeles animation studio, uploaded the thirty-second Dole Dippers commercial to Vimeo on July 28th, 2015[1]. The spot shows a tuxedoed penguin servant walking a silver platter of chocolate-covered banana bites to a pair of ape women lounging beside a resort pool[6]. - **Platform:** Vimeo (source commercial), iFunny / Reddit (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2015 ## Overview Captioned stills of the penguin, platter in hand, carry an absurd substitute item in the 'Your X, Retard' or 'Your X, Sir' slot[4]. The ape sunbathers are the implied recipient, so the joke lands as a tuxedoed servant respectfully presenting something unwanted or ridiculous[5]. In mid-December 2019, a shot of Geoffrey Butler from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air carrying a tray slotted into the same template as a sister image for the format[6]. Audio-dubbed edits of the commercial run parallel to the still-image track. Loss edits, deep-fried macros and poop remixes of the thirty-second ad gave the Dole clip a second life well before the exploitable still took off, with 2017 posters favoring harsh crunchy filters and the slur caption[8]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Dole Dippers?
