# "Dr. Fauci, Give Us Vaccines" Song by Zachary Mogavero Zachary Mogavero, a 17-year-old on the autism spectrum, performed an earnest parody of "Mr. Sandman" at a New York vaccine clinic in April 2021, and a local news clip of the moment turned into a years-long remix pipeline. By mid-2023, TikTokers were layering the sincere pro-vaccine lyrics over FNAF Movie reactions and absurd video memes. ## Origin On April 22nd, 2021, Rochester CBS affiliate News 8 WROC posted a YouTube segment about Zachary Mogavero, a 17-year-old illustrator whose original artwork was being distributed as a sticker to vaccine recipients at the NYS Vaccine Hub inside Dome Arena in Henrietta, New York[1]. The segment also showed Mogavero on stage performing his own parody lyrics to "Mr. Sandman," rewritten as a direct address to Dr. Fauci asking for vaccines, with the cue cards visible on camera[1]. That News 8 WROC clip gained over 166,000 YouTube views in roughly two years[5]. The earliest known remix landed only ten days later. On May 2nd, 2021, YouTuber Ougi Oshino uploaded a nightcore version of the performance, which pulled in over 235,000 views in two years and set the template for how the audio would be chopped and sped up elsewhere[2]. - **Platform:** YouTube (news clip) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Zachary Mogavero - **Date:** 2021 ## Overview The track swaps the dreamy nostalgia of The Chordettes' 1954 hit for a direct pro-vaccination plea aimed at Dr. Anthony Fauci, with Mogavero reading lyrics off cue cards while performing live at a Rochester-area vaccination site[1]. The sincerity of the original performance, delivered by a teenager on the autism spectrum at a public health event, became part of why the audio travels so well as a meme sound, since the earnest delivery contrasts with the chaotic footage that later gets paired with it[2]. Remix culture latched onto the song almost immediately. A nightcore edit by YouTuber Ougi Oshino sped up and pitched up the vocals days after the news clip aired[2], and a separate edit layered the original "Mr. Sandman" backing track underneath Mogavero's vocals so the parody actually sings over the song it is parodying[3]. On TikTok, the sound functioned less as commentary on vaccination and more as a bouncy, instantly recognizable audio for comedy edits ranging from horror movie bits to absurdist jokes[4]. ## How It Spread A cluster of early YouTube edits appeared within weeks. On May 3rd, 2021, user Luke posted a remix originally made by now-deleted SoundCloud user wastebinsandwich, hitting over 158,000 views in two years[6]. Three days later, YouTuber Crooks In Action posted a version that layered the "Mr. Sandman" instrumental under Mogavero's vocals, which gained over 116,000 views in the same window[3]. TikTok picked up the sound starting May 7th, 2021, when @salesbybenyamin posted a clip using the nightcore edit; that specific original sound was used over 2,000 times across two years[5]. On August 12th, 2021, TikToker @heluvpigiorno posted a video with the audio that gained over 500,000 views[4]. A second wave arrived on October 29th, 2022, when @ins3ctiv0r3 reposted the song and spawned a sound used over 2,900 times in the following nine months[5]. The biggest spike came in mid-2023 as the audio got attached to unrelated meme formats. On June 20th, 2023, TikToker @mr.no0ddle used the sound in a Five Nights at Freddy's Movie joke that gained over 700,000 views in three weeks[7]. On July 3rd, 2023, TikToker @idk_42750 posted a meme using the sound that gained over 740,000 views in a week[8]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is "Dr. Fauci, Give Us Vaccines" Song by Zachary Mogavero?
