# Eddie's Song Eddie's Song is a fan-made piano ballad written by TikTok singer Sapphire in July 2022 to mourn Stranger Things character Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn. Fan accounts first paired the track with earnest Eddie fancams, but by late August 2022, mocking stitches calling out the lyrics racked up millions of views on TikTok. ## Origin On July 16, 2022, TikToker @sapphireofficial posted a short video with the caption "eddie, this is for you <3," in which she played piano and sang the opening verse of what she called Eddie's Song[1]. The next day, July 17, she uploaded a longer cut with completed lyrics that went viral and drew more than 700,000 plays within a month[2]. Sapphire created and performed the track herself; it circulated with no label or official Netflix affiliation. The song was tied to the summer 2022 reaction to the back half of Stranger Things season four, where Eddie Munson's death became a flashpoint for grieving fans[5]. - **Platform:** TikTok (origin) / TikTok (viral mockery) - **Creator:** Sapphire (@sapphireofficial) - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview Eddie's Song runs on simple piano chords and lyrics that address the character directly, including the lines "Eddie baby, I just saw Steve. He's crying his eyes out with Dustin, they're playing D&D" and a chorus declaring "You're a hero"[1]. Sapphire wrote it as a sincere elegy for a character who had about 20 minutes of cumulative screen time across Stranger Things season four[5]. Early fan accounts set the audio against clips of Joseph Quinn's scenes and treated the song as a legitimate memorial. The ironic turn came when wider TikTok audiences zeroed in on the lyrics' claims about Steve and Dustin's grief as out of character, and on the overall emotional pitch as disproportionate for a supporting role[5]. Reaction stitches typically opened with a few seconds of Sapphire's piano video, then cut to the reactor making an incredulous face or openly laughing[4]. ## How to Use Mockery stitches typically splice a clip from Sapphire's TikTok with a silent close-up of the reactor's face, often captioned with lines like "what is THIS 💀" or jokes about the lyrics[7]. Sincere uses were edits that overlaid the audio on Eddie Munson tribute footage, most of which were deleted after the backlash[5]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Eddie's Song?
