# Everybody Told Me That I Sound Like CG5 On February 27, 2023, musician CG5 posted a TikTok singing "Everybody told me that I sound like CG5, probably because I am CG5" over the beat of his and LeGrand's song "Give a Little." The audio quickly turned into a TikTok template where actors and creators used the clip to reveal roles, songs or images they're often asked about, including Gabriella Pizzolo as Suzie from Stranger Things. ## Origin The audio traces back to a January 23, 2023 promo by musician and TikToker LeGrand, who sang "Everybody told me that I sound like CG5" over the "Give a Little" beat while explaining that he and CG5 had studios near each other and were releasing the song that month[2]. LeGrand's clip hit over 13 million views on YouTube within two months[2]. The full music video for "Give a Little" went up on LeGrand's YouTube channel on January 27, 2023[4]. On February 27, 2023, CG5 (musician Charlie Green, posting as @cg5beats) replied with his own TikTok over the same instrumental, extending the line to "Everybody told me that I sound like CG5, probably because I am CG5"[1]. That video reached 14.9 million views within two weeks and became the sound creators cited when running the format[3]. - **Platform:** YouTube (initial LeGrand promo) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** CG5 (Charlie Green) - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview Everybody Told Me That I Sound Like CG5, Probably Because I Am CG5 is a short vocal hook CG5 sang over the instrumental of "Give a Little," the collaboration he produced with musician LeGrand[1]. On TikTok, the clip works as a lip-dub reveal: a creator mouths along to the audio while showing an image, scene or product that viewers are forever asking them about, so the punchline arrives when the audio implicitly answers "yes, that's me"[2]. Most posts in this format stay under 15 seconds and lean on a visual cutaway, such as a movie still, album artwork or a childhood role, that supplies the context for the audio's confession-style delivery[3]. CG5's own video added the self-referential tag "probably because I am CG5" to LeGrand's original line, giving creators a pre-made setup and payoff they could point at anything they'd been identified with online[1]. ## How to Use Creators typically film themselves lip-syncing CG5's line while a photo, clip or on-screen caption identifies the thing they're known for, such as a film role, song credit or piece of fan art. The common convention is to delay the visual reveal until the "probably because I am CG5" tag lands, so the audio pays off the viewer's question before they can ask it. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Everybody Told Me That I Sound Like CG5?
