# Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro combines a 2010 photo of a baby orangutan on a hospital ventilator with a caption inspired by viral 2020 TikToks of a chimpanzee drinking blue Powerade. iFunny user @EatFresh05 posted the first version joining the two on June 14, 2021, and by September Instagram accounts were running the template with other objects like a single slice of pizza. ## Origin The hospital orangutan photo originated with an Italian wildlife rescue program, which uploaded it to a Corriere della Sera blog gallery in March 2010[1]. Reddit users had already attached the picture to unrelated jokes, including a January 2021 post on r/lawschooladmissions about Harvard admissions[2], before it got tied to the "Blue Powerade" line. The catchphrase traces to TikToker @landonscherr, who uploaded a clip of himself pouring blue Powerade into a chimpanzee's mouth on December 21, 2020, drawing around 11.4 million views over nine months[3]. A second video in the same style followed on May 7, 2021, reaching 92.8 million views and 11.4 million likes within four months[4]. On June 14, 2021, iFunny user @EatFresh05 combined the orangutan photo with the "get me a blue powerade bro" caption, posting the earliest known version of the meme[5]. - **Platform:** iFunny (origin), Instagram (viral spread) - **Creator:** iFunny user @EatFresh05 - **Date:** 2021 ## Overview The hospitalized orangutan photo does most of the heavy lifting, since the baby primate's weak posture and nasal ventilator make the written caption read like a final wish. Combining that image with a casual "bro" ask for a sports drink produces the central joke, where a sick animal appears to beg for Powerade instead of medical help[3]. Posts in the exploitable format write in food, drinks, celebrity names, or completely absurd objects in place of "Blue Powerade." The shortened "Get Me X Bro" phrasing also became common on iFunny and Instagram once the orangutan photo spread past its original caption[6]. ## How to Use Making a Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro meme typically starts with the baby orangutan hospital photo. The caption follows a "Get Me X Bro" structure, replacing "blue Powerade" with any object the maker finds funny. Setups often go for mismatch, applying the dying-primate look to a trivial request like a food item, a pop culture reference, or an obscure brand name[6]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro? It is an image macro combining a 2010 photo of a baby orangutan on a hospital ventilator with the caption "get me a blue powerade bro," making the sick animal look like it is asking for a sports drink as a final wish[5]. ### Where did Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro come from? iFunny user @EatFresh05 posted the first version on June 14, 2021, combining an orangutan photo from an Italian wildlife rescue blog[1] with a line inspired by @landonscherr's viral TikToks of a chimpanzee drinking blue Powerade[5]. ### What does Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro mean? The 2020 TikToks of a chimp casually sipping blue Powerade gave the line its origin[3]. ### How do you use Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro? Keep the hospital orangutan image and rewrite the request using a "Get Me X Bro" structure, where X is any object the maker wants to joke about, like "a single slice of pizza" in a popular Instagram version[10]. ### Is Get Me A Blue Powerade Bro still popular? Its main viral window ran from June to September 2021 across iFunny, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram[9]. The image is still shared occasionally as a classic exploitable but no longer sees the heavy remix activity of its 2021 peak[6]. ## References 1.
