# Girl Who Is "Going To Be Okay"

"Girl Who Is 'Going To Be Okay'" is a catchphrase and TikTok trend from an August 2023 Caitlin Reilly comedy skit that spoofs the cinematic trope of a woman bravely recovering from trauma[1]. The clip inspired a reaction-image habit on X in late 2023, then exploded into a copycat TikTok trend in February 2024 where creators parodied the pose while recounting trivial struggles[4].

## Origin
Comedian Caitlin Reilly uploaded the original "Girl Who Is 'Going To Be Okay'" sketch to Instagram on August 3rd, 2023[1]. The clip, a straight-faced parody of the cinematic beat where a female character stares into the middle distance to signal her emotional recovery, hit over 2.5 million views and 160,000 likes within seven months of posting[6]. Reilly, known for character comedy online, did not caption the video with any particular trauma; the humor comes from the posture and expression alone[1].

- **Platform:** Instagram (original skit) / TikTok (viral spread)
- **Creator:** Caitlin Reilly
- **Date:** 2023

## Overview
Reilly's original video shows her in the archetypal "healing woman" mode, staring off serenely and taking a deep breath, as if the camera is tracking a protagonist in act three of a drama who has decided to be strong[1]. Fans grabbed stills from the skit and started captioning them with low-stakes life wins. One X user posted a frame to express relief about scoring tickets to Beyoncé's Renaissance film in November 2023[2], and another used the same still to announce they would be streaming Ariana Grande's Positions album three months later[3].

On TikTok the joke takes a different shape: creators film themselves acting out the "finally okay" pose, usually with text overlays naming the trivial thing they survived, like a bad day at work or an awkward email exchange[4]. Tone varies between earnest and self-mocking, with the humor resting on how dramatically women are coded as resilient in media even when the trigger is minor[6].

## How to Use
A typical post uses the Reilly pose or still as a signal for "I have decided I will survive this," with the "this" being deliberately underwhelming, like leaving the house for the first time in a week or getting through a Monday[4]. On X, people often attach text about pop-culture plans to the still; on TikTok, creators act out the pose themselves and use overlay captions to name the specific minor trauma[3][5].
