# Gonna Prank Dad When He Gets Home Gonna Prank Dad When He Gets Home is a four-panel image macro cut from a 2013 Deji YouTube video, with one setup frame and three identical shots of the YouTuber crouched by a door his father never walks through. iFunny and Facebook posters picked it up in 2015 as a joke about the YouTuber's fatherlessness. By 2016, redraws replaced Deji with abandoned characters like Kylo Ren confronting Han Solo. ## Origin On August 10th, 2013, UK YouTuber Deji, then posting as ComedyShortsGamer, uploaded a video called 'Prank Gone Wrong' where he hid by the front door with shaving cream, planning to smear his dad's face[1]. His dad noticed the camera, caught his son's wrist, reversed the smack, said 'Ha, gay,' and walked off; the clip collected over 3.5 million views across the following nine years[4]. iFunny user NuggetSniffer uploaded the earliest known meme version on February 13th, 2015, captioning a four-panel grid 'gonna prank my dad when he gets home' with one setup shot and three identical panels of Deji waiting on a father who never arrives[5]. - **Platform:** YouTube (source video) / iFunny (earliest macro) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2015 ## Overview The macro leans on bait-and-switch timing: the top caption promises a prank, the first panel shows Deji scooping shaving cream, and the three repeated door shots turn the gag melancholy because the dad never shows[1]. Posters often add day counters to the duplicated panels so the setup reads as a tally of abandonment, like a 2015 Facebook version that stretched the wait to 817 days[2]. Redraws keep the four-panel grid but replace Deji with fictional fatherless characters from anime or film[3]. Some break the pattern by letting the dad finally arrive in the last panel so the 'prank' lands as something darker, like a Kylo Ren edit ending in the lightsaber stab from The Force Awakens[3]. ## How to Use Posts typically keep the four-panel grid: one setup panel of a character prepping a trick or gift, then three identical panels of them stationed by a door waiting on a parent who never arrives. Captions commonly plug in a different fatherless character from anime, film or games, and some editors stack numbered day counts to drag out the absurdity. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Gonna Prank Dad When He Gets Home?
