# How Does This Affect LeBron's Legacy? A TikTok copypasta from summer 2022 that asks whether some random, unrelated video will damage LeBron James' basketball legacy. Originating with a Fortnite skin edit by @vexbolts on July 29th, 2022, it spread as a bait comment across the platform and locked onto video game footage of LeBron in Fortnite and MultiVersus. ## Origin On July 29th, 2022, TikToker @vexbolts uploaded a short clip of the LeBron James Fortnite skin dribbling a basketball and then breaking into Fortnite emotes, with the TikToker asking in voiceover, "How will this affect LeBron's legacy?"[1]. The video pulled in over 367,000 views within a month and gave the phrase its signature cadence[4]. The gag landed because the premise was absurd on its face. A video game avatar doing cosmetic dances cannot plausibly affect a real athlete's career, so framing it as a legacy question read as straight-faced sports-talk parody[1]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @vexbolts - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview How Does This Affect LeBron's Legacy? works as a bait question tossed into TikTok comment sections, where the point is to tie a totally unrelated clip back to a referendum on the NBA star's career[1]. The spam most often appears on videos that have nothing to do with basketball, which is the whole joke, in the same vein as the crop / storytime and recipe for brownies comment formats[4]. Posters write variants such as "how will this affect LeBron's legacy" or "how is this going to affect LeBron's Legacy," either as a top comment or as a caption on their own uploads[2]. The audio from the original clip became its own template, usually dubbed over video game footage of LeBron. Fortnite's LeBron skin and his MultiVersus fighter are the two most common pairings, giving the voiceover a surreal mismatch between a serious legacy question and cartoon in-game animations[3]. The deadpan delivery of the line is what keeps the joke working across edits. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is How Does This Affect LeBron's Legacy??
