# Jamaican Smile Jamaican Smile, also known as Jamaican Smiling, is an ironic Sigma slang term invented to mock nationality-based brainrot phrases like German Stare and Balkan Rage. TikToker @bestsparring kicked off the joke on September 30, 2024 with a Trollface photo slideshow set to phonk audio, claiming an opponent had started Jamaican smiling mid-fight. Within a week, other TikTokers were making their own POV edits and phonk remixes about the fake fighting move. ## Origin On September 30, 2024, TikTok account @bestsparring posted a photo slideshow that cut between two halves of a Trollface over phonk audio, with text reading 'About to fight / Opponent starts Jamaican smiling'[1]. That post gathered roughly 55,900 likes over the next nine days and set the template every follow-up edit copied[4]. Two days later, @bestsparring returned with another slideshow in the Flicker Goon format captioned 'I can Jamaican smile for 7 seconds,' which hit about 145,300 likes within a week and locked in the Jamaican Smile as a repeatable bit rather than a one-off joke[2]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @bestsparring - **Date:** 2024 ## Overview The joke invents a fake martial arts or Sigma technique named after a nationality, then shows someone performing it with the creepy Trollge variant of Trollface. Posts usually pair phonk audio with captions that treat the Jamaican Smile as a devastating finisher, like holding it for seven seconds or using it to counter the Kodiak Bear from an earlier meme[3]. The humor comes from how absurdly serious the captions are about a move that has no visual payoff beyond a Trollface photo. Creators lean on the format's connection to the Sigma brainrot ecosystem, where terms like Winter Arc and Those Who Know had already saturated phonk edits in late 2024[4]. Instead of depicting an actual smile, posts leave the Jamaican Smile entirely abstract, which is the whole gag. The caption carries the joke; the imagery is just two halves of a Trollge grinning at each other. ## How to Use Creators typically caption a Trollge image or short phonk edit as if the Jamaican Smile were a lethal technique, often paired with a POV setup or a timed challenge like holding it for seven seconds[2]. Common conventions include stacking it with other fake nationality moves and offering it as a counter to existing Sigma brainrot references like the Kodiak Bear[3]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Jamaican Smile?
