# *Jaw Drops* Awooga! theAwooga Copypasta started with a Facebook comment screenshot that hit r/cringepics on February 9th, 2016, under a photo of three women captioned 'AWOOGA AWOOGA...ahem, you three look quite lovely.' Posters on 4chan's /tv/ board turned the screenshot into a longer stock reply in late 2018, and by June 2019 a Gamer Girl Copypasta spinoff by Redditor Branchie123 drew more than 6,500 upvotes on r/copypasta. ## Origin The onomatopoeia traces back to Tex Avery's 1943 cartoon Red Hot Riding Hood, where a Hollywood wolf goes wild watching the title character perform onstage[6]. Both ingredients of the written catchphrase arrived separately almost a decade later: posts using 'Hummina' show up on 4chan archives as early as April 30th, 2010, and an Urban Dictionary entry for 'Awooga' was submitted on May 26th, 2010[7]. The seed image for the copypasta reached Reddit on February 9th, 2016, when a user posted the Facebook screenshot to r/cringepics; it scored only 17 points there but spawned an Imgur upload that topped 1.7 million views over the next four years[3]. The copypasta body itself did not appear until late November and early December 2018, when 4chan /tv/ posters began typing longer stock replies alongside the screenshot[2]. - **Platform:** Reddit (seed screenshot) / 4chan /tv/ (viral copypasta) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2018 ## Overview Every version of the copypasta wedges cartoon sound effects between asterisked action tags to parody a man losing composure over an attractive woman. Standard beats include *jaw drops*, *tongue rolls out*, hummina hummina, awooga, and bazooing, with each writer reshuffling or stacking the onomatopoeia to taste[5]. The humor targets the writer, not the woman: the overblown Tex Avery wolf routine makes any sincere thirst post look ridiculous by comparison[6]. Longer variants stack several action tags before pivoting to a sheepish 'ahem, you look lovely' close, which mirrors the beats of the 2016 Facebook screenshot that seeded the format[3]. The Gamer Girl Copypasta then added a setup about a male gamer encountering a woman at a gaming event, with the awooga routine saved for the punchline[4]. ## How to Use Writers typically open with an action tag like *jaw drops* or *tongue rolls out*, stack a run of cartoon noises (hummina hummina, awooga, bazooing), then land on a flat compliment such as 'you look lovely' to break the bit. The Gamer Girl convention adds a short setup about a male gamer meeting a woman at a tournament or gaming cafe before deploying the sound-effect routine[4]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is *Jaw Drops* Awooga!? theAwooga Copypasta is a block of text that strings together cartoon reaction noises like 'hummina hummina' and 'awooga' to parody overly thirsty replies to pictures of women, following a pattern set by a 2016 Facebook comment screenshot[3]. ### Where did *Jaw Drops* Awooga! come from?
