# Little Asian Girl Dancing Little Asian Girl Dancing is a video meme built around clips of a young Chinese girl bouncing eccentrically to music, originally shared by her mother on TikTok in March 2023. Spanish-speaking TikTokers turned the footage into green screen and CapCut templates in June 2023, captioning the dance with reactions to good news or anticipation before the format crossed into English-speaking TikTok that August. ## Origin The source footage comes from TikTok account @kmkimii, who began posting videos of her daughter dancing eccentrically to assorted songs on March 9th, 2023[2]. Two uploads anchored the meme: a March 11th clip and a May 22nd clip that drew over 10 million views within three months[1][6]. Prior to launching @kmkimii, the mother had been posting the girl's dance clips through a separate TikTok handle, @lovequan000, throughout 2022[2]. The original videos were not memes in themselves; the format emerged later when Spanish-speaking TikTokers started isolating the girl with green screen and uploading reusable CapCut templates in June 2023[5]. The specific user who first repurposed the footage is not documented, so credit for the meme format itself stays unconfirmed[2]. One of the earliest known examples came from TikToker @anmorenogon on June 4th, 2023, using the girl to react to a boyfriend's post-gym plans; the clip pulled over 2.1 million views in two months[7]. - **Platform:** TikTok (source), TikTok Spanish-language (viral spread) - **Creator:** @kmkimii (source footage); meme format originator unknown - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview A typical Little Asian Girl Dancing post places the girl, isolated via green screen, into a new setting while a caption spells out a specific moment of hype. Early edits leaned on two source clips: a March 11th, 2023 video and a May 22nd, 2023 video that drew over 10 million views in three months on @kmkimii's account[1]. The dance itself is unchoreographed and goofy, which is why creators treat it as a stand-in for uncontainable excitement rather than a skilled performance[2]. Captions do most of the comedic work. Edits usually frame the dance as the reaction to a stated scenario, like leaving the office, hearing a dinner invitation, or getting unexpected approval from a mother-in-law[3][4]. Because the CapCut template[5] handled the editing, posters only needed to swap in a background image or video and type a caption, which pushed the format far beyond typical TikTok editing circles. ## How It Spread Through June 2023, the format moved quickly across Spanish-language TikTok, with most edits sharing the same original audio. On June 7th, 2023, TikToker @franciscocustodi83 posted a version using the dance to represent the mood when a shift ends, drawing over 5.8 million views in two months[3]. Three days later, on June 10th, TikToker @soygabo10 posted a mother-in-law scenario that pulled over 4.3 million views in the same window[4]. English-language TikTok picked up the format in late June. TikToker @papaburgundy93 posted an English version on June 23rd, 2023, which drew over 65,000 views in two months[8]. Momentum built through August: @danawang's August 16th edit drew over 2 million views in two weeks[9], and @searchingthewebforsofia's August 20th version pulled more than 560,000 views in 10 days[10]. By then the dance was being used by business accounts and English creators without further explanation, including a hospitality account @circlecafeuae and creators like @cladnzz and @craigcarmean[11][12][13]. ## How to Use Posters typically start from the CapCut template or a green screen of the girl mid-dance[5]. The common convention is to pair the clip with a background image or video that sets up a scenario, then overlay a caption that names the moment of excitement the dance is reacting to, such as "when the workday ends" or "when my boyfriend says we can get burgers"[7][3]. The original sound from @kmkimii's clips is often retained to keep the edit recognizable. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Little Asian Girl Dancing?
