# Man Disappointed by Fridge Man Disappointed by Fridge is a reaction GIF of a Black man opening his refrigerator, rubbing his hands together with anticipation, then looking disappointed and rolling his eyes before walking away. The clip first surfaced on Cinemagram in October 2012, then bounced between Tumblr and Imgur through the mid-2010s. By December 2023, X users were captioning it with jokes about YouTube videos that take a cancel culture turn[9]. ## Origin The earliest known upload of the GIF came from user ItsCharleighV on the video-looping site Cinemagram on October 27th, 2012, with the caption "I do this 4 times a day lol," which drew more than 13,600 likes within a year[1]. The identity of the man in the clip stays unconfirmed[6]. - **Platform:** Cinemagram (origin) / Tumblr (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2012 ## Overview People use the GIF when a buildup collapses into letdown, from checking an empty fridge to clicking a YouTube video that turns bad. Posts typically open with a caption that promises something good, then let the eye roll land as the punchline[4]. Content creators embed it inline as a reaction in threads about disappointment with media, dating, or online fandom drama[8]. A 2017 Team Fortress 2 re-animation by Redditor ThisStuffRightHere replaced the fridge opener with Scout, who gets excited about a new TF2 update before realizing nothing worthwhile shipped[5]. Scout versions became common inside Discord-centered edit communities, where repeat captioning carried the clip years after the original Tumblr post went viral[6]. ## How to Use People typically embed the GIF as a reaction to a letdown that follows a hype moment. A common convention starts with a caption that sets up expectation, like "watching a good video and the yter makes a cancel culture joke," before the GIF plays out the deflation[9]. TF2 fans often substitute the Scout re-animation when the subject involves gaming updates or community drama[5]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Man Disappointed by Fridge?
