# Mandem Style Mandem Style is a 2024 drill parody of Psy's "Gangnam Style" by musician Luke Day that swaps the hook for "ching dat mandem style." The track sat quietly on YouTube for over a year before a September 2026 TikTok edit of Sasuke Uchiha shrugging to the beat sent it viral, spawning a wave of anime edits, dance clips and accuracy reenactments. ## Origin On May 21st, 2024, YouTuber and musician Luke Day uploaded "Mandem Style" to his channel, a drill remix that rewrites the lyrics of Psy's "Gangnam Style" around the phrase "ching dat mandem style"[3]. The video sat without major traction for more than a year, pulling roughly 112,000 views over two years before the audio caught on elsewhere[1]. The meme breakout came on September 26th, 2026, when TikToker @youthflaw cut Naruto footage of Sasuke Uchiha shrugging his shoulders to the beat[2]. That edit pulled over 2.3 million views in its first week and became the template everyone else riffed on[1]. - **Platform:** YouTube (song) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Luke Day - **Date:** 2024 ## Overview Mandem Style is a drill-style flip of Psy's 2012 K-pop hit "Gangnam Style" that trades the original hook for the chant "ching dat mandem style," borrowing the Caribbean Patois word "mandem" (slang for a group of guys)[1]. Luke Day's track leans into UK drill production, keeping the shape of the original melody intact so the swap lands as a punchline every time the chorus hits[3]. The meme itself is less about the song as a standalone track and more about how editors sync its stuttering hook to short, loopable character animations[2]. The dominant format pairs the beat drop with Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto shrugging his shoulders, timed so each shoulder bounce lines up with a syllable of "ching dat mandem style"[2]. Spinoff formats include dance clips, cooking-video gags and accuracy reenactments where creators try to mimic a Sasuke edit frame-for-frame[4]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Mandem Style?
