# Mimemamomu
Mimemamomu, also known as Mi Me Ma Mo Mu, is a TikTok sound taken from an October 2022 clip of vocal coach Cheryl Porter running a vowel warmup with young mariachi singer Mateo Lopez in a car. The original hit nearly 99 million plays, and a slowed and reverb edit from November 2022 fed a CapCut trend called Naik Kapal Malam that places any still image into a green boat drifting on a dark lake.
## Origin
On October 16, 2022, Cheryl Porter, a professional vocal coach who posts as @cherylporterdiva, uploaded a short TikTok of herself in a car with Mateo Lopez, a Texas boy who had been profiled by USA Today earlier that summer as the world's youngest mariachi[1]. Across the clip, Lopez runs a MiMeMaMoMu vowel exercise and Porter calls back "Keep it up" as he reaches for higher notes[2]. Within a month the original drew roughly 98.9 million plays and 6.9 million likes[6].

## Overview
The sound captures Lopez repeating the syllables mi, me, ma, mo and mu in a classical MiMeMaMoMu vocal warmup while Porter cheers "Keep it up" from the driver's seat[2]. TikTok edits usually loop the moment where Lopez's pitch climbs into a thin falsetto, and the humor sits in the childish wail laid over whatever visual the creator picks[6].
Variants fall into two camps. Normal-speed uses lean toward mobile gameplay montages and dubbed cartoon bits, where editors sync Lopez's syllables to action beats[5]. A slowed and reverb remix, posted by @ilikeyoucutgbozo in November 2022, moved the audio into moodier edits built around the Naik Kapal Malam CapCut template, which composites any still image into a tiny green boat gliding across a dark lake while the vocal floats overhead[7][8].
