# "Moka Chan Oshiete Kureta Irona Mita" / Horse Speaking Japanese A July 2023 animated TikTok of Sanrio's Cinnamoroll chirping the Japanese phrase "Moka Chan Oshiete Kureta Irona Mita" sat quietly for five months before a horse interview clip paired with the audio exploded in December 2023. By mid-December, TikTokers were slapping the sound onto cats, other animals and parody drawings as if each one were fluently speaking Japanese. ## Origin On July 3, 2023, TikTok user @47mon_sanrio uploaded an animated short of Cinnamoroll holding a phone and gushing about social media filters, opening with the line "Moka Chan Oshiete Kureta Irona Mita"[1]. Over roughly six months the clip picked up more than 2.6 million plays and 421,000 likes before anyone used it as a meme template[1]. The audio sat as a cute Sanrio in-joke until a horse interview video repurposed it in early December 2023[4]. @47mon_sanrio animated and posted the source video; the broader meme format emerged five months later when another creator attached that audio to real-world footage[2]. - **Platform:** TikTok (original audio) / TikTok (viral spread via horse video) - **Creator:** @47mon_sanrio (original Cinnamoroll audio video) - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview "Moka Chan Oshiete Kureta Irona Mita" is a TikTok audio clip pulled from an animated Cinnamoroll video, in which the Sanrio puppy chatters about trying a filter her friend Moka recommended[1]. The clip became a reusable sound tag that creators lip-sync onto animals, with the point being that the animal appears to be speaking perfectly cadenced Japanese[2]. Most edits use the full audio over a single uncut shot of a horse, cat or other pet whose mouth movements line up loosely with the syllables[2]. The joke works because the sound carries a sweet, enthusiastic chipmunk-pitched delivery that clashes with whatever large or deadpan animal is on screen, and the caption typically plays along by presenting a fake English translation of what the creature is "saying"[3]. ## How to Use To use the format, creators typically overlay the Cinnamoroll audio on footage of an animal whose mouth is moving, with the goal of making it look like the animal is fluently delivering the Japanese line. Common conventions include adding English subtitles that invent a translation of whatever the creature is supposedly saying, or framing the shot like a news interview, as in the viral horse edit[2]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is "Moka Chan Oshiete Kureta Irona Mita"?
