# Please Don't Make Me Get a Job!!!!!!!!

Please Don't Make Me Get a Job!!!!!!!! began as a July 2023 tweet from @summerahrens that paired a Nintendo 3DS running Ocarina of Time 3D with a Ben and Jerry's ice cream pint, captioned by the title phrase in a storm of exclamation points. Spring 2024 saw it reborn as a template, with X users remixing it around Stardew Valley, manga merch and vodka.

## Origin
On July 3rd, 2023, X user @summerahrens tweeted a photo of a Ben and Jerry's core pint next to Ocarina of Time 3D on a Nintendo 3DS, captioned 'please dont make me get a job' with twenty exclamation points[1]. In a reply, @summerahrens said the underlying image came from a TikToker going by zeldacult, an account since gone or renamed[2]. The tweet earned over 59,000 likes within ten months[7].

## Overview
Every image in the series follows the same visual recipe: a childish indulgence, almost always a video game, paired with junk food or booze, captioned with the title phrase and a trail of exclamation points[1]. The humor sits in the gap between an adult life and the subject's hobby of choice, like a Stardew Valley player sipping Corona Extra from a wine glass[5] or a fan surrounded by manga merch[4]. Variants can swap any objectively lazy combo in, as long as the whine stays attached[7].

## How to Use
Take a photo of some adult indulgence you suspect is a little pathetic, often a video game paired with snacks or alcohol, and caption it with 'please don't make me get a job' and a long tail of exclamation points[1]. Louder exclamation counts tend to work better.
