# Rainbow Dolphin Rainbow Dolphin, also known as Symphony Dolphin, is a TikTok image format that overlays depressive confessions on brightly colored illustrations of dolphins leaping out of the sea, scored to the chorus of Zara Larsson's song 'Symphony.' The trend took off in late August 2024, when creators flipped wholesome ocean imagery into a reverse-hopecore gag. By August 21, Zara Larsson herself had joined in with a dolphin edit captioned 'What the fuck is happening' that drew more than 13 million plays[3]. ## Origin TikTok user @heiratet is credited with the first Symphony Dolphin edit, posted on August 18, 2024, overlaying 'I'm depressed' on a stock dolphin illustration while Zara Larsson's 'Symphony' played underneath[1]. Within three days the post counted roughly 889,000 plays and 210,000 likes[4]. The underlying dolphin wallpaper came from a June 25, 2023 r/FrutigerAero post by SaturnFive, who shared a 4K version of the image around a year before the TikTok trend began[5]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @heiratet - **Date:** 2024 ## Overview A typical Rainbow Dolphin / Symphony Dolphin post is a static image or short slideshow of a dolphin breaching through pastel water, often in a style viewers compared to Lisa Frank artwork, with text overlaid in plain white sans-serif[4]. The caption contrasts the uplifting picture with something bleak, confessional, or absurd, while the chorus of Zara Larsson's 2017 single 'Symphony' loops in the background on the line 'I just wanna be part of your symphony.' The humor comes from the mismatch between the saccharine stock art and the raw admission underneath, which fans of the trend labeled reverse hopecore[4]. Creators lean into self-deprecating mental health confessions, and some flip the format for deadpan boasts. On August 21, 2024, TikToker @_c.h.e.r.r.i.e.s posted a sea-life edit captioned 'No, I don't have balls… but spiritually mine are bigger than yours,' earning around 21,000 likes in a day[2]. The dolphin wallpaper many of these edits reuse was uploaded to r/FrutigerAero by Redditor SaturnFive on June 25, 2023[5]. ## How to Use Posters typically grab a bright, airbrushed illustration of a dolphin breaching through blue water, add a short confessional or deadpan caption in plain white text, and set the clip to the chorus of Zara Larsson's 'Symphony.' A common convention is to make the caption either sad or outrageously boastful so the bubblegum imagery clashes with the message. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Rainbow Dolphin?
