# Red Light, Green Light Red Light, Green Light refers to TikTok videos, Roblox remakes and animated edits based on the killer-doll game from the first episode of Netflix's 2021 South Korean drama Squid Game. The scene triggered a late-September 2021 wave of imitation clips, and by early October a 3D animation of the doll dancing was being set to songs like EXO's "Paradise" on Twitter[3]. ## Origin The source scene appears in episode one of Squid Game, titled "Red Light, Green Light," which premiered on Netflix on September 17th, 2021[1]. In the show, 456 debt-ridden contestants are forced to play a children's game where a motion-sensing doll executes anyone caught moving during the pause[7]. The meme format itself started three days later. On September 20th, 2021, TikTok user @yovincaprafika posted a clip pretending to play the game next to a life-size replica of the doll placed at a Manila shopping center, syncing her freeze-ups to the show's original Korean audio[4]. The video pulled over 44.5 million views in ten days and set the template that other TikTokers copied through the rest of the month[4]. - **Platform:** Netflix (source scene) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2021 ## Overview Red Light, Green Light, also known as the Squid Game Doll, covers a cluster of September 2021 videos riffing on the first deadly challenge from Netflix's survival drama. A giant pigtailed animatronic doll sings "green light, red light" in Korean, scans the field during the pause, and shoots anyone who twitches. Clips reuse that exact Korean audio while creators mime freezing on camera, often cutting to a real-life replica doll installed outside a Manila shopping center[2]. On Roblox, user-made maps copied the costumes and tracksuits directly from the show, with names like "Fish Game" or "Hexa Game" slipped past brand filters[6]. A separate strand of edits uses a 3D animation of the doll dancing, with TikTokers and Twitter users scoring it to pop tracks for comedic effect[5]. Tone across the trend ranges from genuine jump-scare bits to absurd dance mashups. ## How to Use Creators typically overlay the show's "무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다" audio onto a POV clip, running toward the camera and freezing mid-step when the doll's head turns. Common conventions include filming near a public replica of the doll, or editing in the show's gunshot sound effect when the subject fails to stand still. Dance-remix versions skip the horror beat entirely and set the 3D doll animation to a song[3]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Red Light, Green Light?
