# Sad Hulk Sad Hulk, also known as The Hulk Crying, is an exploitable image macro made from a panel of the Hulk in tears taken from Incredible Hulks issue 616. The earliest known version appeared on X in June 2019 from a Spanish-speaking account before English users adopted the format for oddly small regrets throughout the 2020s. By December 2024, moderators at r/memes banned the format for overuse, setting off parody formats featuring The Thing and Dexter's Laboratory's Infraggable Krunk. ## Origin X user @jeffocondoblef posted the earliest documented Sad Hulk on June 27, 2019, with a Spanish caption meaning 'Mom, is there cake left?' (translated from Spanish)[1]. That post received more than 6,300 likes across the five years that followed[1]. The source image comes from Marvel's Incredible Hulks issue 616, published November 10, 2010[2]. - **Platform:** X (Twitter) / Reddit (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2019 ## Overview A typical Sad Hulk post places a short confession as top text with the Marvel panel of the weeping Hulk underneath as the oversized emotional reaction[2]. Captions tend to admit something small and specific, like forgetting the names of Pokémon from your childhood or realizing you no longer listen to a band you once loved. The 2019 original asked, 'Mom, is there cake left?' (translated from Spanish), which set the tone for how disproportionate the character's grief should feel against the stated loss[1]. Humor comes from how the Hulk's giant green frame makes a tiny complaint look world-ending, which is why posters attach the format to self-deprecating confessions about aging or missed opportunities[3]. Spanish speakers used the format first and most heavily during 2019 and 2020, and English-speaking users adopted it later. ## How to Use Posts typically place a short confession or realization as top text, with the panel of the Hulk in tears underneath as the exaggerated reaction[1]. Captions often open with a phrase such as 'Guys, I'm starting to forget' or 'I just realized,' then name the small or oddly specific thing being mourned. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Sad Hulk?
