# Schizophrenia Update Schizophrenia Update, also known as They Added Schizophrenia, is a TikTok video game meme in which players post clips of enemies vanishing from the screen and jokingly blame a fake update that added the mental illness to the game[1]. It started on November 11th, 2023 with a Fortnite clip, and by March 2024 creators had rebuilt the gag inside Minecraft and Counter-Strike 2. ## Origin On November 11th, 2023, TikTok creator @etheyl.r6 uploaded a Fortnite clip of a player suddenly losing sight of an opponent, with the caption 'Nah bro epic definitely added schizophrenia'[1]. The video received more than 3 million views and 207,000 likes over the following five months, and is listed as the earliest post that attached the 'schizophrenia update' line to a gameplay clip[3]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** @etheyl.r6 - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview Posts in this format typically open with a short first-person gameplay clip where the uploader briefly loses track of an opponent, usually because the enemy moved behind cover or the camera panned off them for a frame[1]. On-screen text or the caption then insists the developer has shipped a 'schizophrenia update,' leaning on the real symptom of visual hallucinations for the joke[3]. Early clips used Fortnite footage, then creators swapped in Minecraft PvP fights and Counter-Strike 2 duels while reusing the same deadpan explanation[2][5]. Comment sections repeat the caption as a copypasta, with viewers writing 'they added schizophrenia' under any clip that looks like a visual glitch or a wallhack. The humor sits on a deliberately flat tone: no edits, no music stingers, just a confused player and a straight-faced one-line claim. ## How to Use A standard version is a short gameplay recording in which an enemy briefly leaves view, paired with a caption claiming the developer added a 'schizophrenia update' to the game[1]. Common swaps change the title (Fortnite, Minecraft, Counter-Strike 2) and the developer named in the caption, while keeping the plain delivery[5]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Schizophrenia Update?
