# Skete Skete is the nickname rapper Kanye West gave comedian Pete Davidson in February 2022 while publicly attacking Davidson over his relationship with Kim Kardashian, Kanye's estranged wife. First used in a since-deleted Instagram caption on February 13, 2022, the name spread as Kanye's fans and meme accounts picked it up. By August 2022, Kanye closed the saga with a photoshopped Instagram headline reading 'Skete Davidson Dead at 28.' ## Origin On February 13, 2022, Kanye West posted a carousel on Instagram showing a man in a chokehold next to a screenshot of a text from Kim Kardashian. The caption read, 'UPON MY WIFE'S REQUEST PLEASE NOBODY DO ANYTHING PHYSICAL TO SKETE I'M GOING TO HANDLE THE SITUATION MYSELF,' which Know Your Meme marks as the first public use of the Skete nickname[5]. Kanye deleted the original, but the fan archive account @kanye.deleted reposted the screenshots on February 15[3]. The archive also captured a separate text exchange from February 14 in which Kanye again referred to Davidson as Skete[10]. - **Platform:** Instagram (Kanye West post) / Twitter and Facebook (viral spread) - **Creator:** Kanye West - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview Skete worked as both a diss and a punchline. For Kanye's fans the name was an insult aimed at Davidson, often paired with screenshots of Kanye's captions saved before deletion[3]. For meme accounts that followed the drama for laughs, Skete was the keyword marking a post as part of the ongoing feud, pasted onto photoshops like Kanye's own Civil War painting edit of Davidson[5]. Posts tended to center on two beats: screenshots of the Instagram captions themselves, usually the all-caps lines addressed to Davidson by that nickname, and edits placing Davidson into other imagery drawn from combat or action scenes[7]. According to Know Your Meme, a likely source for the sound of the nickname is a December 2020 SNL sketch titled 'Rap Roundtable,' in which Davidson and Timothée Chalamet repeatedly say 'Skrrt' and 'Yeet'[4]. ## How to Use Skete typically appears as a one-word substitute for Pete Davidson's name in reply guy jokes, image macros and photoshops referencing the 2022 Kanye and Kardashian saga. A common convention is pairing the word with a screenshot of Kanye's own all-caps Instagram captions, so the nickname carries its original tone of mock aggression[3]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Skete?
