# So I Blocked Gracie Abrams So I Blocked Gracie Abrams is a Stan Twitter meme where users share block-button screenshots of the indie-pop singer in reaction to grievances she had no part in. The format took hold on April 1, 2023, with an @beenthearchers post blaming Abrams for missing a Taylor Swift song live, and by August 2025 a version about Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain reached over 64,000 likes on X[1]. ## Origin The catalyst dates to June 14, 2022, when X user @forwiImon reposted screenshots of Abrams' 2017 'sticky situation' Instagram Story about Finn Wolfhard, driving a wider round of criticism[2]. The earliest known meme in this template was posted on November 15, 2022, by X user @BOYSHIlT, with a block screenshot captioned 'ticketmaster went down so i blocked gracie abrams,' a nod to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour sales collapse. It received about two likes but set the template[3]. - **Platform:** X / Twitter (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview Posts in the format combine a screenshot of someone tapping Block on Abrams' X or Instagram profile with a caption blaming her for a wholly unrelated event. Grievances run from the mundane (good weather, boredom, a Roblox session) to the fandom-adjacent (Taylor Swift setlists, a Clairo Grammy loss, a Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain spat). The humor sits in the gap between Abrams' soft indie-pop image and the absurd fury of the caption[1]. Users often tie the meme to a 2017 Instagram Story that resurfaced in June 2022, in which Abrams, then around 17, captioned a photo of 14-year-old Finn Wolfhard with 'sticky situation: knowing he's 14 but still incredibly down'[2]. Many fans read the comment as predatory, and Abrams reportedly apologized in a since-deleted Instagram post[5]. No direct link between the controversy and the first meme is confirmed, though KYM notes it is routinely cited when the meme is discussed[4]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is So I Blocked Gracie Abrams?
