# The Eternal Worm Came Back For Connecticut Trevor Henderson's shadowy worm artwork from 2019 took on a new life in July 2022, when a Redditor slapped a Snapchat-style caption on it reading 'Nahhhhh the eternal worm came back for connecticut πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜.' The line nods to a Have A Nice Life song, and by late 2022 it inspired PokΓ©mon Wiglett edits, Destiny Hive Worm redraws and Splatoon versions. ## Origin Toronto artist Trevor Henderson, who posts as @slimyswampghost and is best known for his photoshopped cryptid images, uploaded the source artwork to Twitter on November 6th, 2019, showing a thin dark creature leaping across a highway at dusk[1]. The piece sat quietly for nearly three years with roughly 160 likes[3]. On July 13th, 2022, a Redditor posted the image to r/okbuddyretard with a hastily typed Snapchat overlay reading 'Nahhhhh the eternal worm came back for connecticut πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜,' which quickly picked up over 13,000 upvotes and became the first known version of the meme[2]. The phrasing echoes Have A Nice Life's song 'A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut,' though the connection is unconfirmed[8]. - **Platform:** Twitter (source artwork) / Reddit (viral caption) - **Creator:** Trevor Henderson (artwork); anonymous Redditor added the caption - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview A typical post places Trevor Henderson's dim, worm-like silhouette arching above a lonely stretch of highway, with blocky white Snapchat text pasted on top reading 'Nahhhhh the eternal worm came back for connecticut πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜'[2]. The joke mashes together Henderson's unsettling cryptid aesthetic with the shrug-emoji panic of someone casually filming the end of the world from their car window[3]. The caption likely borrows its wording from Have A Nice Life's 2008 'Deathconsciousness' track 'A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut,' though the Redditor who first paired the two never confirmed the reference[3]. Later edits swap Henderson's shadow worm for other long creatures while keeping the identical Connecticut panic caption, so the format works as both a horror joke and a music deep-cut nod[7]. ## How It Spread After the r/okbuddyretard post, the image bounced to larger accounts over the following months[3]. On September 19th, 2022, @ConfusingImages reposted it on Twitter, where it collected over 193,000 likes within seven months[5]. Instagram account grandmas.butt shared it on September 25th, 2022, picking up roughly 65,000 likes in the same span[6]. Redraws started appearing almost immediately. On September 28th, 2022, @Cyberlord1109 posted an edit replacing Henderson's worm with the PokΓ©mon Wiglett, reaching over 2,600 likes[7]. iFunny user YourFavoriteGuardian published a Destiny Hive Worm Gods redraw on November 13th, 2022, and the Instagram page destiny_thememe ran its own Destiny-themed version the same day for about 15,000 likes[8][9]. The format kept producing fandom variants into the following year. On February 20th, 2023, @MARNlE_ posted a Splatoon-themed redraw that reached over 10,000 likes within a month[10]. Know Your Meme catalogued the entry in 2023, pointing to the Have A Nice Life track as the probable lyrical source[3]. ## How to Use People typically take a photo of something long, snaky or ominous crossing a road, horizon or landscape and add white Snapchat-style text reading 'Nahhhhh the eternal worm came back for [place name] πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜.' Common conventions include keeping the exact skull-and-cry emoji string, swapping Connecticut for another state or planet, or redrawing the Henderson worm as a recognizable video-game creature like Wiglett or a Destiny Hive Worm[5][7]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is The Eternal Worm Came Back For Connecticut?
