# The Saddest People Cum the Hardest The Saddest People Cum the Hardest and The Saddest People Shit the Loudest are ironic parodies of a syrupy inspirational quote about damaged people being wisest, coined by two Tumblr users on August 22, 2019. By late December that year, ironic meme accounts on iFunny and Instagram were captioning Yume Nikki fanart and SpongeBob stills with the altered lines. ## Origin The sincere inspirational quote has unknown authorship and circulated widely as a feel-good image macro. On December 26, 2014, a Breaking Bad macro pairing the quote with Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and Mike Ehrmantraut was posted to 9GAG and reached over 44,400 points[2]. A January 2, 2015 repost on 9GAG's Facebook page received over 324,000 reactions and 53,000 shares[3]. The ironic flip began on August 22, 2019, when Tumblr user urinates posted a text entry reading "the saddest people………shit the loudest." Tumblr user candygarnet commented "the loneliest people……… cum the hardest" on the same thread that day, and the combined post gathered more than 49,800 notes within a year[1]. - **Platform:** Tumblr (text origin) / iFunny / Instagram (viral spread) - **Creator:** Tumblr users urinates and candygarnet - **Date:** 2019 ## Overview Tumblr user urinates typed the first half, "the saddest people………shit the loudest," and Tumblr user candygarnet replied the same day with "the loneliest people……… cum the hardest"[1]. The source quote circulates online as "The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people smile the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they do not wish to see anyone else suffer the way they do." Meme accounts preserved the three-part rhythm of the sincere version, which had already spread on 9GAG and Facebook paired with fandom trios like the Breaking Bad main cast[2]. A typical captioned post pastes the altered text over three stacked character portraits, reading as sentimental until the final noun lands as something crude. Yume Nikki fanart, SpongeBob SquarePants stills and anime screenshots became common hosts for the altered quote[4]. The appeal is the deadpan mismatch between the Pinterest-poetry cadence and the vulgar punchline, which lets ironic accounts mock the sincere inspirational version while using the same art it would normally caption. ## How to Use Posts typically place the altered quote over a trio of characters from one franchise, keeping the tripartite rhythm of the sincere source text. Common convention pairs the caption with fandom casts whose dramatic weight sharpens the crude punchline, like the Breaking Bad protagonists, Yume Nikki art or SpongeBob regulars. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is The Saddest People Cum the Hardest?
