# They Just Look At You Like This They Just Look At You Like This is a catchphrase and image macro that pairs a photo of someone wearing a stunned or stricken expression with the line 'people don't even X anymore, they just look at you like this.' The format started in March 2020 with a tweet from @jossehtx featuring rapper Boosie Badazz, then cycled through faces including Chris Pratt, Traumatized Mr. Incredible, and the Ugly Duckling before a crying Brendan Fraser frame from The Whale took over in 2026. ## Origin X user @jossehtx posted the earliest known example on March 12, 2020, pairing a photo of rapper Boosie Badazz eating with the caption 'people don't even say "bless you" anymore, they just look at you like this😭.' The tweet picked up roughly 96,000 likes and 36,000 reposts over the following six years[1]. Know Your Meme lists this post as the first documented appearance of the catchphrase[4]. - **Platform:** X / Twitter - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2020 ## Overview They Just Look At You Like This, also tagged as People Don't Even Say X Anymore, pairs any image of someone with a stricken, bewildered, or quietly tearful expression against a complaint built on the template 'people don't even [X] anymore, they just look at you like this.' The [X] slot flexes between petty etiquette gripes like saying 'bless you' after a sneeze[1] and pop-culture or political takes about defenses nobody wants to mount anymore[3]. The joke works because the attached face sells the implied silence harder than any punchline could. Different images became associated with different moods inside the template. Early editions leaned on candid celebrity photos such as Boosie Badazz caught mid-meal[1] or a confused Chris Pratt[5], while later versions reached for animated stills like a Traumatized Mr. Incredible[6]. By 2026, a tearful Brendan Fraser frame from The Whale eclipsed the earlier faces and turned any complaint into a mock-tragic bit[4]. ## How to Use The common convention is to pick an image of someone looking stunned, confused, or on the verge of tears, then caption it 'people don't even [X] anymore, they just look at you like this.' The [X] slot typically fills with an etiquette, courtesy, or fandom habit the poster claims has died off, from asking before hitting a vape[2] to defending a TV show[7]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is They Just Look At You Like This?
