# This Is Canada. No Baby, It Is Singapore A Bangladeshi TikToker named aktar khan posted a short clip in October 2022 where a female voice calls Singapore 'Canada' and he snaps back, 'No baby, it is Singapore. Welcome to Singapore,' followed by a male voice chanting 'Targal targal.' The audio turned into a reusable TikTok sound, and by January 2023 the creator was swapping in Indonesia, Poland and other countries as a phrasal template. ## Origin On October 9th, 2022, Bangladeshi TikToker aktar khan uploaded a clip from Singapore in which a female voice says 'This is Canada' and he responds, 'No baby, it is Singapore. Welcome to Singapore,' before a second male voice chants 'Targal targal' as music kicks in[1]. Within three months the post counted roughly 1.5 million plays and 100,600 likes[1]. Later the same day, aktar khan posted a second video using the same audio and setting, which pulled around 649,400 plays and 37,600 likes over three months[2]. aktar khan kept using the sound through late October 2022, and his follow-up uploads gave other creators a reusable audio track to attach to their own edits[3][9]. - **Platform:** TikTok - **Creator:** aktar khan (@aktarkhan116) - **Date:** 2022 ## Overview This Is Canada. No Baby, It Is Singapore, also written as Welcome To Singapore. Targal Targal, is a TikTok sound in which a woman insists a location is Canada, a man corrects her by naming Singapore, and a second male voice chants 'Targal targal' (sometimes spelled 'Tarqal tarqal') over music[1][2]. The exchange is short enough to loop under a walking shot or a lip-dub, which is why creators latched onto it as a reusable audio asset rather than a one-off joke. Most posts fall into two camps. The first is straight recreation, where TikTokers mimic aktar khan's pointing and strolling while mouthing the lines, often filmed in airports, malls or tourist spots[6]. The second is remix usage, where editors drop the sound over unrelated reaction clips and image macros so the 'No baby' retort reads as a sudden correction[4][5]. By January 2023 aktar khan himself was producing variant sounds that swapped Singapore for Indonesia, Poland and other countries, turning the line into a phrasal template[7][8]. ## How It Spread Remixes began appearing within ten days. On October 19th, 2022, TikToker goofyahhbro_ stitched the audio against Side Eyeing Chloe, Patrick Bateman's Ooh Face and the 8 Mile rap battle, a shitpost compilation that collected roughly 1.4 million plays and 145,600 likes over three months[4]. The same day, grandzeno._ layered the sound onto the Babe Please Stop format, earning about 548,100 plays and 54,200 likes in the same window[5]. Lip-dub recreations became their own lane. Russian YouTuber roman_nfkrz filmed a Singapore walkthrough on December 22nd, 2022, mimicking aktar khan's pointing and gesture, and the TikTok picked up roughly 404,300 plays and 31,100 likes inside a month[6]. Know Your Meme catalogued the sound in early 2023 as its usage branched between literal recreations and ironic image-macro edits[9]. In January 2023 aktar khan started releasing country-swap variants. His 'Welcome to Indonesia' upload on January 11th, 2023 drew about 348,100 plays and 23,500 likes in a week[7], and a Poland iteration posted January 12th, 2023 reached roughly 576,500 plays and 54,500 likes in six days[8]. Those variants cemented the line as a phrasal template that any creator could point at a new destination. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is This Is Canada. No Baby, It Is Singapore?
