# This X Shit Get Serious, Be Ready to Die Behind It "This X Shit Get Serious, Be Ready to Die Behind It" started on June 15, 2021, when Twitter user @here4themoneyy posted a photo of rapper NBA Youngboy next to the line "This Discord Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It." The original tweet barely registered with eight likes, but the phrasal template spread anyway as users plugged in words like Roblox, Hello Kitty, and Pokémon. By January 2023, a Hello Kitty version collected over 22,000 likes on Twitter. ## Origin On June 15, 2021, Twitter user @here4themoneyy tweeted "This Discord Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It" alongside a photo of rapper NBA Youngboy[1]. The post collected just eight likes and four bookmarks over the following two years[4]. The tweet fit inside a wider joke format where Discord users were portrayed as hardened and dangerous, with NBA Youngboy's intense stare serving as a visual stand-in for the posture[3]. - **Platform:** Twitter - **Creator:** @here4themoneyy - **Date:** 2021 ## Overview The catchphrase mocks the ride-or-die posture people develop toward hobbies, platforms, and fandoms by giving mundane obsessions the menace of gang loyalty. Posts typically feature a scowling photo of NBA Youngboy or another visibly serious person, captioned with the template "This [X] Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It." Common variants substitute Discord for whatever niche interest the poster wants to joke about defending to the death, from Roblox lobbies to Hello Kitty merch[1][6]. A notable rewording uses "Be prepared to die behind it" instead of "Be ready to die behind it"[4]. Humor comes from the mismatch between the deadly serious phrasing and the absurdly low stakes of the subject. NBA Youngboy's association with Discord memes predates the catchphrase, since Twitter users had already been posting his photos next to jokes about Discord users acting tough online[3]. ## How to Use Users typically take a photo of a visibly menacing person, often NBA Youngboy himself, and caption it with "This [X] Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It," substituting X for a niche hobby, website, or fandom. Common conventions include matching the subject photo to the joke, such as a Pokémon screenshot for a Pokémon version, and sometimes using the alternate phrasing "Be prepared to die behind it" for a slight tonal shift[7]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is This X Shit Get Serious, Be Ready to Die Behind It?
