# Tiffany Haddish "But The Parasites In Me Want The Candy" During a July 2023 IGN press junket for Haunted Mansion, Tiffany Haddish joked that she personally did not want candy or liquor, but the parasites inside her did[1]. The bit sat quietly for months before TikTokers rediscovered the audio in April 2024 and turned it into a sound trend for confessing impulsive cravings, late-night snacking and other urges blamed on an imagined inner freeloader[3][4]. ## Origin On July 27th, 2023, IGN's official TikTok account posted a short clip from its Haunted Mansion press junket interview with Tiffany Haddish and Jamie Lee Curtis[1]. In the clip, Haddish deadpans, "I don't want candy, but the parasites in me want candy. I don't want liquor, but the parasites in me want liquor," while Curtis reacts next to her[1]. The IGN upload gathered over 6 million plays and 900,000 likes over the following ten months, though it did not immediately generate derivative content[2]. TikToker @moe.donut reposted the same interview clip on September 9th, 2023, and the audio from that reupload became the version other creators later attached to their own videos[2]. Haddish herself is the source of the line; IGN captured and distributed it, and @moe.donut's repost is what circulated as the trending sound. - **Platform:** TikTok (IGN interview, 2023) / TikTok (viral sound, 2024) - **Creator:** Tiffany Haddish - **Date:** 2023 ## Overview Posts built on the sound usually open with the user doing something harmless, then cut to a reveal where the Haddish audio plays as justification for a less flattering urge: raiding the pantry at 2 a.m., staring directly at the solar eclipse, or buying another bottle of wine on a weekday[4][6]. Creators lip-sync the two matched clauses, swapping candy and liquor for whatever specific vice fits the video, which keeps the bit recognizable while opening it up to endless personal spins[3][7]. Tonally, the sound functions as a self-deprecating shrug. The joke pins blame on a fictional parasite rather than the person on camera, so users can admit to impulsive habits without actually taking ownership of them[5]. That framing made it a natural fit for food, dating, drinking and shopping confessions, with the audio often paired with text overlays like "me telling myself I didn't need another iced coffee."[2] ## How to Use Typical posts show the user in a wholesome setup, cut on the beat where Haddish begins the "but the parasites in me" line, then reveal the actual craving the person is giving in to[3][4]. Captions commonly swap "candy" for a specific temptation, such as a snack, a bad text, or a questionable late-night purchase[6]. Users often lip-sync the full two-clause structure to preserve the rhythm of the original joke. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Tiffany Haddish "But The Parasites In Me Want The Candy"?
