# Topographical Map of Brazil

Posted to r/memes in August 2022 by Redditor Bot1K, this Wojak image macro places a trad girl saying 'Thank you' above a topographical map of Brazil, suggesting that women turn as red as the Brazilian Highlands when complimented. Within days, Instagram and Facebook accounts remixed the format with maps of Louisiana and the Roman Empire.

## Origin
Redditor Bot1K posted the format to r/memes on August 26, 2022, under the title 'so relatable'[1]. It drew more than 5,500 upvotes in two weeks. The image used the trad girl Wojak drawing already common in 2022 image macros and layered the Brazil topography panel underneath without any extra text or caption changes[6].

## Overview
The template stacks two labeled panels. On top, 'Girls when they get a compliment' sits beside a trad girl Wojak flushed and smiling with the caption 'Thank you.' On the bottom, 'Topographical map of Brazil' sits beside a color-coded elevation map, where the warm reds and oranges of the Brazilian Highlands echo the Wojak's rosy cheeks[1]. Readers get the joke by noticing the visual rhyme between the character's blush and the map's shading.

Remix accounts turned the compliment panel into a snowclone, substituting Brazil for maps chosen to fit a different in-joke or absurd punchline[2]. The humor sits between earnest and absurd, part relatable-meme parody and part straight-faced non sequitur. Some readers interpreted the joke as a comment on how seldom men give or receive compliments, though that reading is speculative[6].

## How to Use
Posters typically keep the top panel intact, the trad girl Wojak captioned 'Girls when they get a compliment,' and replace the Brazilian map on the bottom with any image whose shape, color or texture echoes a flush. Common choices include regional maps, imperial borders and unrelated topographies that happen to look red or ridged[2][5].
