# Upset Because of a Certain Someone, They Know Who They Are Two cartoon characters reading a vague social media post sparked a 2025 TikTok sound trend about cryptic status updates. Clipped from a 2013 episode of The Amazing World of Gumball titled 'The Voice,' the audio took off in April 2025 when TikToker @ladygawa_ captioned it with a jab at Instagram Notes posters[1]. Within weeks, creators were overlaying the dialogue on Discord rants, Duolingo DMs and screen recordings of petty subtweets. ## Origin The audio comes from season 2, episode 31 of The Amazing World of Gumball, titled 'The Voice,' which first aired on Cartoon Network on September 10th, 2013[2]. In the episode, Gumball and Darwin anonymously troll classmates on the fictional social media site Elmore Plus, and the exchange happens when they read a status update from their classmate Leslie[4]. On April 3rd, 2025, TikToker @ladygawa_ posted the clip with the caption 'THOSE people posting on Instagram Notes,' which gained over 2.9 million likes in a month[1]. The sound was lifted directly from this upload and set the template for the trend. - **Platform:** Cartoon Network (source scene) / TikTok (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2025 ## Overview Posts using the sound open with Leslie's line, 'Upset because of a certain someone, they know who they are,' then cut to whatever vague, attention-seeking message the creator wants to mock. Gumball's angry reply, 'Stop posting mysterious status updates when we have no idea who you're talking about,' lands as the punchline over a screenshot or screen recording of the offending post[1]. Common targets include Instagram Notes complaining about a 'certain someone,' Snapchat captions, long rambling Discord messages and petty subtweets. The humor comes from matching Gumball's exasperated outburst with real-life vaguebooking, using the audio as a universal reaction for anyone tired of cryptic online posting[4]. ## How to Use Posts typically pair a screenshot of a vague social media update, Instagram Note, Discord message or subtweet with the two-line audio. Common convention keeps the opening quote tied to the offending post and uses Gumball's angry retort as the reaction. Captions often name the platform being mocked, like 'THOSE people on Instagram Notes' or 'that one friend on Discord.' ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Upset Because of a Certain Someone, They Know Who They Are?
