# Voiceoverpete Voiceoverpete is a Fiverr video spokesperson whose cheerful green-screen testimonials became a satirical video format in 2018, with gamers hiring him to read scripts begging viewers for their credit card info. His 'Attention Fortnite Gamers: John Wick Needs Your Help' video spawned the template that later got him banned from Fiverr and triggered the #JusticeForVoiceoverPete hashtag. ## Origin In June 2014, a Fiverr seller using the handle voiceoverpete put up a gig offering voiceovers, script reads, and green-screen video performances[1]. He operated normally for years before gamers discovered that his standard script-read service could be weaponized for comedy. On September 11, 2018, Reddit user yungiguana posted the breakout video 'Attention Fortnite Gamers: John Wick Needs Your Help' to the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit, where Pete pleads for credit card details to save John Wick, and it collected over 3,300 upvotes[2]. Pete himself did not write the script; buyers paid him to perform it, making him the on-camera talent while anonymous commissioners authored the gag[3]. - **Platform:** Fiverr (source) / YouTube and Reddit (viral spread) - **Creator:** Pete (VoiceoverPete, Fiverr spokesperson); earliest viral edit posted by Reddit user yungiguana - **Date:** 2018 ## Overview Voiceoverpete is the Fiverr handle of a professional video spokesperson named Pete who sells read-to-camera scripts and green-screen clips for cheap[1]. Buyers started commissioning him to deliver absurd, deadpan monologues asking viewers to hand over their credit card numbers to help fictional characters like John Wick, with Pete performing the lines with full earnest-pitchman energy[2]. The disconnect between his polished delivery and the clearly fraudulent script is the entire joke. The format is simple enough that anyone with five dollars could run their own version, which is why it exploded across gaming subcultures. Each video follows the same beat: a direct address to a specific fandom, a sob story about a beloved character, then a request for financial information with cheerful sign-off[3]. The meme sits at the intersection of 'this is clearly a scam' parody and genuine affection for Pete's unflappable delivery. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Voiceoverpete?
