Weird Erotica
Published October 5, 2026
Weird Erotica is a self-published genre of short adult novellas featuring graphic sexual encounters with cryptids, dinosaurs, aliens and anthropomorphized objects. The format took off in 2011 after Virginia Wade's "Cum For Bigfoot" earned up to $30,000 a month on Amazon's Kindle store, and author Chuck Tingle later turned the subgenre into recursive internet art.
Overview
Also known as "monster porn" or "cryptozoological erotica," the genre pairs human narrators with bigfoots, minotaurs, gargoyles, dinosaurs or anthropomorphized objects in short Kindle novellas1. Covers follow a stock romance-novel template of a shirtless man standing in front of an absurd creature, like the top-hatted, monocled triceratops on Chuck Tingle's "My Billionaire Triceratops Craves Gay Ass"6.
Tingle's "Tinglers" pushed the format into recursive meta-comedy with books such as "Pounded In The Butt By My Book 'Pounded In The Butt By My Own Butt'"7. The under-50-page novellas sell for a few dollars each through Kindle Direct Publishing, letting authors blast out dozens of titles chasing niche search terms10.

Origin & Background
In December 2011, stay-at-home mother Virginia Wade self-published the novella "Cum For Bigfoot" through Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing5. The book was downloaded more than 100,000 times during 2012, bringing Wade between $6,000 and $30,000 a month2. Wade (a pseudonym) extended the title into a 16-book series, and Penthouse named Bigfoot leader of the "paranormal pack" in 20121.
