# Which White Suburban Mom Are You? "Which White Suburban Mom Are You?" is an image macro of six middle-aged women tagged with stereotyped suburban traits, posted as a Tumblr Tag Yourself quiz in February 2016. The grid went viral on Twitter in mid-April 2016, then triggered a backlash when two of the pictured women said their photos had been used without permission. By late April 2016, BuzzFeed had published both a quiz version and a follow-up article critical of the format. ## Origin A Tumblr user posted the six-panel "Tag Yourself" grid in February 2016, matching each woman to three suburban-mom traits[1]. The original Tumblr post was deleted before archivists captured the account, so the creator's handle is unknown. Know Your Meme traced the Tumblr post as the source template through BuzzFeed's April 2016 reporting[4]. - **Platform:** Tumblr (origin) / Twitter (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2016 ## Overview Each panel on the grid shows a different woman next to three bullet-point traits meant as suburban mom caricatures, from pumpkin-spice loyalty to the overbearing PTA regular[1]. Viewers were asked to pick one and "tag yourself," a Tumblr format where users identify with a labeled character inside a group image[4]. The humor leaned on class and regional cliché more than on any one person. Minivan jokes and chain-restaurant preferences stood in for personality[7]. Debate started once viewers noticed the women were real, not stock models. Blogger Shannon Gurnee wrote on April 19, 2016 that she had never consented to the use of her picture, and a second subject told BuzzFeed the same[1]. ## How to Use Users share the six-panel grid and "tag" themselves with the woman whose three listed traits fit them, usually by quoting those traits or circling the panel in a reply[5]. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Which White Suburban Mom Are You??
