# Witness Me Witness Me is a catchphrase shouted by the War Boys in Mad Max: Fury Road right before they blow themselves up chasing Valhalla. After the film hit theaters in May 2015, the line jumped straight from the screen to 4chan, Reddit and Amazon reviews, becoming the go-to way to loudly call attention to a post. ## Origin Mad Max: Fury Road was released on May 15, 2015, and Immortan Joe's War Boys, portrayed as a cult of sick, pale-skinned fighters, shout Witness Me throughout the film before suicide attacks[3]. The gesture is tied to a specific ritual: a War Boy sprays his mouth silver, yells the phrase at his comrades, and launches himself into a kamikaze move with the belief that being seen in the moment of death guarantees him entry to Valhalla[3]. The earliest documented online use predates the film's wide release. On May 10, 2015, five days before the premiere, a 4chan /tv/ poster claiming an early screening dropped the phrase into a thread about the movie[5]. From there it quickly left the single thread and spread across the site, turning up roughly 2,200 times across 4chan boards according to archive counts[5]. - **Platform:** Mad Max: Fury Road (film) / 4chan and Reddit (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2015 ## Overview Witness Me is the battle cry the War Boys use in Mad Max: Fury Road before they drive, leap or detonate themselves into enemy vehicles, convinced Immortan Joe will reward the act with a seat in Valhalla[1]. Online, people adopted it as a joke-loud demand for attention, usually attached to a chromed-up image or a self-deprecating confession of some reckless move. The format is simple. Pair the phrase, often capitalized as WITNESS ME, with any character whose mouth has been painted silver, from Pepe the Frog to random mugshots of people caught huffing spray paint, which already left them looking the part[3]. The companion line "We will ride eternal, shiny and chrome" shows up as a tag on the same image set[3]. On the Mad Max subreddit, mods lean into the bit by calling readers War Boys and signaling their presence with "WITNESSING!"[3] ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Witness Me?
