# Zamii070 Harassment Controversy
In October 2015, Tumblr fan artist Zamii070 attempted suicide after a sustained pile-on from Steven Universe and My Little Pony fans who accused her artwork of racism, transphobia and body shaming[3]. News of her hospitalization spread first through Reddit threads speculating about her death[1], and later drew public condemnation from the Steven Universe production crew.
## Origin
Zamii070 was a Tumblr artist who posted fan art of Steven Universe, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and other animated shows, with pieces including a Rose Quartz illustration hosted on her DeviantArt gallery[8]. Through 2015, Tumblr users compiled her artwork and cosplay as examples of 'problematic' fandom behavior, calling out body types they said strayed from canon designs and skin tones they read as whitewashed[6]. On October 19, 2015, she published a Tumblr post stating she was 'going to sleep forever,' which readers took as a suicide note[1].

## Overview
The Zamii070 Harassment Controversy centered on how the artist drew Rose Quartz from Steven Universe and Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic[3]. Callout posts collected her illustrations and accused her of drawing a 'canonly fat' Rose Quartz as too thin, lightening the skin of characters of color, and making other choices critics labeled transphobic or fatphobic[6].
Attention jumped past Steven Universe fandom once her October 19 Tumblr post about 'going to sleep forever' circulated, with Reddit communities picking up the story within days[1]. The response fractured Tumblr: user pessimisticnarcissistic kept defending the public shaming even after her hospitalization[5], while supporters publicly turned on the harassers[4].
