# Zombie Tools/Zombie Survival Sheet Zombie Tools/Zombie Survival Sheet is an image macro template from 4chan's /k/ board that lets posters catalog their ideal gear, weapons and plan for a hypothetical zombie outbreak. First posted on October 24, 2008, the fill-in sheet moved from /k/ to /b/ within days and seeded a running thread genre on multiple chans[1]. By August 2009, a free iPhone application turned the paper exercise into a mobile loadout picker[2]. ## Origin According to Lurkmore's history of /k/, zombie threads began invading the board in late October 2008, with anonymous posters asking for the best gear and plan for a zombie outbreak[1]. The threads consistently split the board into careful responders and dismissive skeptics, and none of the earliest threads were archived[1]. On October 24, 2008, a zombie thread introduced an image macro titled "Zombie Tools," though that first post did not catch on as a reply template[2]. Five days later, on October 29, 2008, the picture resurfaced in a zombie thread on /b/, where posters started using it to answer requests, and the format then returned to /k/ with more frequent zombie threads[2]. The original artist remains unconfirmed. - **Platform:** 4chan /k/ (image macro posted) / 4chan /b/ (viral spread) - **Creator:** Unknown - **Date:** 2008 ## Overview Zombie Tools/Zombie Survival Sheet works as a loadout questionnaire disguised as an image macro. Posters fill in slots for a primary firearm, melee weapon, sidearm, vehicle, shelter location and sometimes a companion or team role, then post their completed sheet as a reply to a zombie thread on /k/[1]. Entries range from heavily researched picks grounded in /k/'s weapons-board culture to joke choices meant to annoy the more earnest responders, and threads often split between the two camps[2]. The accompanying zombie thread format predates the image itself. Anonymous posters would ask the board for best weaponry, bug-out routes and squad composition, and regulars debated calibers, melee reach and sanitation while skeptics mocked the premise[2]. Once the Zombie Tools sheet appeared, replies collapsed those long text answers into a single picture: a visual loadout, easy to screenshot and easy to argue with. ## How to Use A typical post reproduces the blank sheet and fills each labeled slot with a specific pick, often a brand, model and caliber for firearms, plus a bugout location and vehicle. Common conventions include matching ammunition between a primary rifle and sidearm, choosing a melee weapon that will not break on skulls and justifying each choice in a short caption below the image[2]. Joke sheets stuffed with katanas, chainsaws or absurd supercars circulate alongside the earnest ones. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### What is Zombie Tools/Zombie Survival Sheet?
