Overview

24Yo Femanon is a 4chan greentext template written from the point of view of a 24-year-old woman (a femanon) recounting her attempts to land a boyfriend, usually referred to inside the story as "possiblebf.jpg"1. The stories almost always end with the narrator in an embarrassing, degrading, or humiliating situation after her date goes sideways2.

The format is instantly recognizable on /b/ because of its opening framing, the specific age tag, and the deadpan self-own arc. Instead of the male-anon confession greentexts that dominate the board, 24Yo Femanon flips the perspective and plays the humor as social awkwardness aimed inward at the narrator2.

Date

2016

The template traces back to September 17th, 2016, when an anonymous /b/ poster wrote a greentext identifying as a 24-year-old femanon asking the board for advice after a failed date with a boyfriend1. Almost a year later, on September 8th, 2017, another anonymous /b/ user posted a very similar greentext from a 24-year-old woman describing an unsatisfying date, and this second post is generally credited with locking in the format that other posters started copying2.

How It Spread

Through late September 2017, /b/ was flooded with imitations of the format. The two earliest documented copycat threads went up on September 22nd and September 23rd, 2017, both from anonymous /b/ posters running the same femanon-recounts-embarrassing-date structure3 4. More /b/ threads following the same template appeared through the rest of the month5.

From /b/, the stories jumped off-site. Screenshots were reposted to /r/4chan6 and /r/greentext7 on Reddit, where the format reached a much wider audience that was not necessarily browsing 4chan directly. In these Reddit repostings, the recurring beat was the same: the narrator identifies a man she is interested in, labels him "possiblebf.jpg," then walks the reader through the encounter falling apart in a humiliating way7.

The copypasta lineage kept generating variants on /b/ into later 2017, with the archived threads still viewable through fourth-party mirrors like The B Archive8.

How to Use This Meme

A typical 24Yo Femanon greentext opens by stating the narrator is a 24-year-old woman, introduces a love interest tagged as "possiblebf.jpg," and then walks through the date or encounter in short greentext lines. The common convention is to build toward a punchline where the narrator ends up embarrassed, rejected, or in a degrading situation, rather than getting the guy2.
