Overview

Bloomer is a Wojak character used on 4chan to depict a young man with an optimistic, driven outlook, typically framed as someone in his late 20s who moved past a dark period 1. The base drawing shows a smiling Wojak dressed in a blue hoodie, with captions listing traits like 'unbreakable resolve' and the ability to see 'better worlds he wants to build' 1.

The character works as the deliberate opposite of Doomer, the depressed nihilist Wojak, and posts often set the two against each other to compare mindsets 3. Bloomer's whole appeal sits in this contrast: where Doomer gave up, Bloomer decided to try. Urban Dictionary describes the term more broadly as someone 'who blooms like a flower' and spreads positive energy 6. Later edits like the Go-Getter and Broken Bloomer riffed on the same theme of self-improvement and eventual hardship 3.

The picture packaged a Wojak in a blue hoodie with a list of positive attributes, framing the character as someone with strong resolve and hope for the future 3. How It Spread

Through October 2018, Bloomer showed up on other 4chan boards including /v/, /bant/, and /r9k/, with users describing Bloomer ideology as the direct opposite of 'blackpilling' 3. YouTube creators picked up the character within weeks, with videos by users like Shuzzo pairing Bloomer alongside 30-Year-Old Boomer, Zoomer, and Doomer for comparison sketches 4.

On November 19, 2018, an anonymous /pol/ poster added another variant with 'The 24 Year Old Go-Getter', a character described as someone who moved past the Doomer lifestyle 2. The theme of recovery and self-improvement became the pattern for Bloomer's later edits.

A darker spin, Broken Bloomer, showed up in mid-2019 and depicted the character struggling after a run of hardships. The earliest known repost was made on May 16, 2019 by the VK group 'eternal classic', though the edit is thought to have originated outside 4chan 5. From there the picture moved to Reddit and Twitter within days, and by May 24, 2019 it was circulating in fresh /tv/ and /v/ threads 3.
