Overview

The meme centers on a reaction image of Annoyed Picard, the Star Trek: The Next Generation captain pulling his signature frustrated face, captioned "Bro! You just posted cringe! You are going to loose subscriber"3. The deliberate misspelling of "lose" and the singular "subscriber" are baked into the joke, mocking the sort of typo-riddled callouts common in low-effort internet drama.

People deploy it as a mock scolding reply to anything considered awkward, corny, or embarrassing online2. The humor comes from treating a trivial post like a serious offense worthy of losing followers, delivered in the same broken grammar the format satirizes.

On August 23, 2018, iFunny user FunnyInternetMan uploaded the original Annoyed Picard image with the "loose subscriber" caption to the platform2. The post pulled in more than 3,300 likes and 950 reposts on iFunny over the following nine months3.

How It Spread

The image jumped to Twitter on October 10, 2018 when YouTuber apandah replied to a tweet from @_royalkayy with it, picking up roughly 95 likes3. Later that same day, apandah used the reaction again on another post and pulled in around 20 retweets and 560 likes. Over the following days, other Twitter users copied the trick, dropping the image under posts they wanted to publicly rate as cringe.

On October 15, 2018, Redditor LordBlyat crossposted the image to /r/bruhmoment, a subreddit built around exactly this kind of ironic reaction to awkward content1. From there, more Annoyed Picard variants and text edits started spreading on iFunny, Twitter, and Reddit, all riffing on the misspelled "loose subscriber" scolding template.

How to Use This Meme

The format typically involves placing the Annoyed Picard face with some version of the "Bro! You just posted cringe!" line, usually as a reply to something considered awkward. Common variations swap what is being lost (subscriber, follower, viewer) or stack extra fake warnings on top, and most users preserve the original "loose" misspelling because dropping the typo kills the joke2.
